Any idea if or when eBay will have a free or discounted price listing day for Christmas.

They usually have it a day or two after Christmas, I don't remember them having one before.

Hello,
Traditionally eBay has a discounted listing day the week of the 29th. However, this is not a definite and at this point they have not announced when/if it will happen this year.
Regards,
Nathan

This year we only got free snowman graphics.
Next year, there will probably be a 10-cent day for snowman graphics.

The year's not over yet.
As for snowman graphics, I have thousands of rail miles logged with Amtrak Guest Rewards and all I got was a lousy snowflake.

These are the challenges to all of us. The first one is will eBay actually have a special listing day? Let's say they do. The next challenge is to figure out what they are going to do. With the new structure that it is possible to list items, it would be my guess that we won't see the traditional reduced listing fee event as we have seen in the past.
After thinking about it for a few minutes, here is what I think will happen.
Ebay will have a reduced listing fee day, which generally has been the day or week after Christmas. The big difference in this day will be the type of listings that will quailfy for the reduced listing fees. I propose that eBay will state that only regular auction listings will qualify for the reduced fees. Fixed price and store items will not be included. In the past fixed price items were included because the length of both FP and regular auctions was the same. Now that FP can be listed for 30 days, ebay will not give that discount. I hope I am wrong, but that's my take on it with eBay's tendencies. My advice to all would be to have your items ready to go as Regular listings, but to have your Fixed Price items ready to go just in case.

SC...you forgot;
---- a 4.732435 average or above in each of the DSR categories
---- a feedback score of 1256 or higher
---- no negatives or neutrals in the past 6.5 months
---- minimum total listings of 457 or more
---- 3 dozen cookies mailed to your personal powerseller representative
---- 25% of your FVFs due for any item that sells during this sale
---- obviously free shipping on all items
---- last but not least..your commitment to purchase 12 items from buy.com on this sale day

I just looked at Medved and I have doubts about a free or reduced listing day.
Since early November, ebay's auction counts have been at record high levels.

Yes, December is showing the typical drop in listing totals, but even at the level where they are at, it is still higher than most other months in eBay's history.

After looking at the yearly totals for 2008, it raises the question of when did the big corporate giants the eBay recruited start listing items. My guess it was September. The months prior to September, eBay was running auction totals at their lowest levels in roughly 5 years.

Stone:
Isn't Sept when they started the FP listings at 35 cents for 30 days?
I know the other diamonds were supposed to come onboard in October but not sure who all actually did start then.
FP listings are included in the auction count since they are in core.

Yes favorites, I think you may be correct with the 30 day listings. But that still is a pretty hefty hike in listing totals. Although, if you do the math taking an average of roughly 6500 FP listings per week and multiply them by 4 weeks, you get 26,000 listings. Then add the regular auctions say roughly 5,000 and it does work out. (But that is a theory)
I guess I need to clarify. When I stated auctions, I really did mean core listings including FP. I should probably say core from now on.

Then, of course, we have all those wonderful diamond power sellers who get to list for free
I'm sure that accounts for a large chunk of the total since Buy alone keeps around 800,000 items listed.
I would love a listing special but I'm beginning to think it won't happen this year.
Of course, I could list 200 or so tomorrow and the next day. That would guarantee a special listing day by Wednesday because it always works out that way for me. lol

I'm going to hold out until we get one. I do decent enough with my website and two other auction site venues to where I don't need to list in extreme amounts on eBay without some sort of special.

Most of my non-ebay sales come off of my website. But I do sell on epier and on ebid as well.
