Don't worry... you're not missing much... notice how they're rounding up too... for most people, I doubt this sale would be worth the time spent switching to 1 or 3 day auctions and back again on their listings....

Wow, the sheer excitement of this offer takes my breath away......or maybe its the fact that the promotion stinks that is affecting me!

They should be ashamed to even offer this - after all they've done in the past year - the changes, the 18,000 new rules, the slumping sales, the slumping economy - shame on them!

I threw up a few quickie 1-day auctions on higher value items...just for schatts and googles. We'll see if any of these sell.
This would qualify as a 2-bit offering from Ebay, which as we start the New Year continues towards it's destiny...death or takeover.

Removed so I don't give poor advice. Now that I fully read the terms, this so called special is not worth the lack of paper it's written on.

Although there was one prediction of mine that did come true.

This special is for auction style listings only. No fixed price or store items. It also appears that ebay motors is also excluded.

Holy cow. Now that I read the whole "What is excluded" section. Is there anything that will qualify for the reduced listing fees?

Excluded categories: All Collectibles categories

What else is there?

Hey eBay. How about telling us what catagory qualifies. That is a shorter list. [ edited by stonecold613 on Jan 2, 2009 09:44 PM ]

like pmelcher stated and I also stated in another post;

simply increase your S & H fee and you have a FREE listing day EVERYDAY! No exculsions, no requirements, no busting your hump to get DSRs up. Let the added 25¢-50¢ cover the listing fee. Ebay is just trying to get these new sellers(if there is any) to list more. Eventually the EBAY REDUCED LISTING FEE DAY will come down to something like this;

On January 23rd, sellers will be able to list a BLUE WIDGET for $1.99 with free shipping and PAYPAL payment only between the hours of 2am-3am PST. All other listings - normal fees apply. Hope you enjoy these great savings. Your "don't have a 7777 clue" ebay staff.

Gotta love ebay math! This listing "sale" ends up costing more/day than regular listing fees for seven days. I wouldn't participate if I could.

As Caroline said so perfectly -

"They should be ashamed to even offer this - after all they've done in the past year - the changes, the 18,000 new rules, the slumping sales, the slumping economy - shame on them!"

And I will add my favorite new way of expressing displeasure - "BITE ME" eBay
I'm keeping my stuff selling on RL for less $ and certainly no DSRs, negative feedback, paypal only and the scads of other hoops one has to jump through to be an ebay seller.

Yeah no collectibles knocks me out too - not that I planned to do 1 or 3 day auctions anyway.
I bet a lot of sellers won't read the exclusions and it ends up costing them double to list.

Same here....most of what I sell is under the Collectibles category and I won't do 1 or 3 days auctions either.

I have done many 5 days in the past which work well for me especially on one of the older style specials where most folks would list 7 days I would try to get ahead of the pack with 5 day auction.

Ah...well..just carry on as normal!

I just realized something that hasn't been said here nor have I read it on any other forum.

But this so called listing fee sale really isn't a good deal, even if they didn't have all the restrictions on which catagories you can list in.

Let's say you have an item that you wish to list (for argument sake) let's say at $75.00. The regular listing fee would be $2.00 , making the 1/2 price at $1.00. And you only get one or three days of exposure.

Now list that same item as a fixed price item, and it will only cost you 35 cents and you can list it up to 30 days.

It's pretty much a no brainer what I would do.

This just reinforces at how much eBay scrooged it's sellers.

Excellent point!

I looked at some of the eBay Forums and when the 'special' was first announced a few folks posted about it but not too many and then the threads died!
I think that everyone was pretty disgusted and just decided to ignore it.

stonecold, you are absolutely correct!! Ebay used to tout that auctions got higher search visibility, now they claim that for FB depending on your "seller status."

1-3 day auctions are only useful for very limited, high volume items.

The only real difference is that you pay a lower FVF for auctions than for FP.
