open to suggestions. I want something quiet that I can read in low light from a distance without having to grab my glasses.
I have been thru a dozen battery operated quartz clocks and they are all too loud. Has to be battery because I do not have a power outlet on that wall.
Just bought a nice 6inch LCD readout yesterday but forgot that I would not be able to see it in the dark. I can see a 12 inch dial clock ok in ambient light but the LCD would need a backlight and I have not found anything but desk clocks with a backlight.
Has anyone found a nice wall clock lately that is quiet (as in SILENT) and easy to read from across the room?

This might not fit the bill, but instead of a wall clock have you thought of a bedside clock with projection on ceiling? My husband always used to wake me up to ask what time it was until I got him one of those.

I looked at the projection clocks yesterday. I like how they work but decided not to buy yet because we would each have to have one on our nightstand and DH's nightstand stays a cluttered mess already <g>

I've seen a version of an "atomic clock" that was battery operated with red light up numbers. Like the first digital wristwatches.
It was at a thrift store, obviously used. At least you now know that there is such a thing.

Thanks Max. I am thinking there has to be a wall version out there somewhere. The one I bought yesterday is an atomic clock but no backlight.

This may be a stupid solution, but one that works well for me. I keep my cell phone nearby. I have 2 alarms set on it, one at 5 AM, one at 7 AM.(if I am lazy). I can fumble and find it any time on my disorganized table and can always read it, even with these old eyes.

Not so stupid Pixia, I use my cell phone as a clock when we are on the road but I prefer to not have a phone of any type in the bedroom at home.
I just want a wall clock that is silent and easy to read to replace the one that just died. Last time it took us forever to find a clock that did not tick or make noise.
I was hoping someone on the board had seen something recently that would be suitable.
Our eyes maybe weak but we both have excellent hearing. A little too good perhaps.
