I sold an item to a buyer in Italy who is now emailing me asking why he had to pay $17 Eros at pick up as he had already paid me $70 for shipping.
This buyer is also a seller so I find it hard to believe that he didn't know there would be a duty charge on this.
Any suggestions on what to tell him?

Yup, but I hesitate to use such language on a public forum. Italy is nothing but problems.

He knows. He just wants a partial refund.

I'd probably play dumb ('cause I do it so well) and send him this link:

Don't get into an email pi$$ing match.

A little while ago ebay came up with some wording you could insert in listing to CYA when questions about duties come up - don't remember where to find it. Did it really cost $70 to ship the item? (Glad I just sell postcards!)

It was $69.30 and required a special box. It was very heavy. He didn't ask me to mark it as a gift so maybe he didn't know???

jtomp - I must agree - Italy can be a problem.
