Whether it's right or not... the death of celebrities is often an opportunity for collectible dealers to sell off some of their inventory. It's usually a limited time that the merchandise remains "hot"... and the earlier they get stuff on the market, the better chance they have in competing with the rest of the vultures. Not that I personally take place in such practice, but I can see where knowledge like this has true commercial value on a forum of this nature. I don't think it's inappropriate at all to post such information... it's just been surprising (and a shame) that so many big celebrities have passed away in one weekend.

Pixiamom called to tell me this - I thought she was talking about WILLIE Mays (the baseball player). I didn't even know about BILLY Mays! I guess I just tune out commercials and infomercials...anyway too bad about Billy and I guess Willie is still alive and kicking.

Billy Mays, had he lived, would have become as legendary as Ron Popeil.
What's interesting is that they both got their start on the state fair circuit. That's a venue where showmanship is hugely important. If you can sell stuff to people at the fair, commercials and infomercials are a piece of cake.
I know that most of you only want to throw up a few things on eBay and make a little money; you're not terribly concerned with selling per se. But closely watching either of these guys to see what they're doing and why would make you a better eBay seller, too.

rhpepsi - That site is creepy. I was expecting to be taken to a list of people who had died, not to a site where people are apparently cheering because someone on their deathwatch list had died. Weird.

Billy Mays was still screaming at us as of last night on the TeeVee set. I guess being dead doesn't forgive contractual obligations....can't wait until his recorded rants are all used up.
