We recently had a elderly friend pass away, and his wife and sister are moving into a nursing home, so they are selling a lot of their house contents. My husband went to see what they had, and came home with 7 boxes of pottery and china. He said he didn't know what was good and what was not, so he just got all the boxes. I have thrown away chipped and cracked etc. and ended up with 3 full boxes.
There is English, US, German, Japanese, Chinese etc. So you will be hearing a lot from me in the future, I need a lot of help!
One bowl is by H J Wood, Burslem, England. I looked up thier site, and my bowl is the first example shown of their work
http://www.thepotteries.org/ware/wood_hj/index.htm
It's a large bowl with a hand painted flower.
My questions are: Can I put the website link on my eBay auction so that people can see that it is a genuine piece? Also, does anyone have any idea what it is worth? I thought otteropp might know?

I think you can put the link as long as there is only information on that site about your piece and if there is none for sale there.

Also at the bottom of that page it gives the person's name (Steve Birks) to contact for more info. Maybe he can help you

Also don't throw away chipped china as if it is rare and HTF collectors still want it. They can display it so the chip isn't showing

Yes, it is the first one. I am not sure how you define majolica. It is a lovely piece, large and heavy, and the exact one and same number on the bottom as the picture. The problem is, it gives no other detail, date, pattern name, value etc.

This is slightly off-subject. Does anyone here watch "Cash in the Attic," on the Home and Garden channel? It's very interesting to me. My one caveat is that, the total for all the auctioned items the family is selling is given without any mention of the commission the auction house usually takes, which can be substantial.

roadsmith, yes, I always watch that program. Here is Canada, we have 3 other similar British auction programs. They are very interesting to me, being English. I often see similar items to ones I own coming up.
I know that in some of the programs, the auction house doesn't take commission on the televised programs, they are almost certainly reimbursed by the television network.

Thank neil, I can't just put the image because there are several on the page, I'll just put the link and then say it's the first picture. I really appreciate all the help.

Hi everyone,
Have been taking time off to move and it seems to be slow on Bay anyway. My computer died a couple of weeks before the move and we have not had time to replace it so am using DH's laptop to stay in touch.
Amber..,here is an auction that I believe shows the same piece. You could use that one as your price guide. 380142943202

Thanks otteropp, you are right, that is the one. I should have looked on all of eBay instead of just "pottery and glass". It's not worth as much as I thought it would be, but I'll give it a try on a regular auctions and see how it does.
I hope the move went well, I didn't know you were moving again. You are right, eBay is slow, and the mail service is even slower!

Loads of stuff Neil. I am hoping to get a few things done each week, the ones I did this week I found, but I know there's going to be a lot I won't have a clue about.
