Do we need to take it out or every auction or what?
OR will it just disappear ?

I think it has to be removed but someone who knows will come along soon.

If it is mentioned on your template I would remove it manually.

eBay says they will just remove it from the calculations, but Vendio has not said if they will be able to.

I hope it will be automatic. I can't believe I may have to edit all my listing manually - YET AGAIN!!!!!! One More edit and I'm out of here.

Since I generally sell low to moderately priced collectible items, 95% of what I ship isn't insured anyway. For me, it has always been optional to buyer, so now I won't be offering it at all - unless the bids go really high and then I probably won't mind covering the insurance.

It is all pretty lame putting the insurance burden on sellers when the cost of USPS shipping keeps climbing every 6 months. Particularly for the lower priced items where the profits are small. But I can kind of see both sides of this issue, it just happens to create more grief for the small seller - so what else is new.

Sept 22.

I got a call from ebay this morning so I asked if we have it in the description section, would we have to remove it. The agent didn't know so she went to check. When she put me on hold we got disconnected (I think). She is suppose to send a follow up email in which I hope she let me know what she found out.

These updates are scheduled to take place the weeks of September 22 and October 1, 2009.

Optional buyer charges for shipping insurance removed: The insurance option creates the perception that buyers need to purchase shipping insurance as a protection on eBay, an experience they're not accustomed to on other ecommerce sites. In fact, sellers have always been responsible for their items until they arrive safely in their customers' hands. That's why shipping insurance will no longer be included in the purchase flow as either an option or requirement for buyers.

Of course you can choose to purchase insurance on shipments, but not ask buyers to buy insurance separately. In some categories like Antiques, Collectibles, and Jewelry, shipping insurance for sellers is essential. When appropriate, you can include the cost of insurance in your item or shipping price.

I have all ready started booting the insurance when listing. I DO NOT WANT TO HAVE TO DO THEM ONE BY ONE LATER.
