I've been selling on ebay for 9 years. I have never once received a payment where the address is in a foreign language like Chinese. The zip code is numerical. Address is confirmed.

I called PP and they told me that the address is confirmed and eligible for Buyer Protection... but if I am not comfortable using the address I should refund the payment and request the bidder reenter the address using English text. I've had other addresses in spanish, russian, etc. that I have never had a problem with.

My only concern is that I have absolutely no way of knowing what the text actually reads and if it is in the proper shipping address format.

Anyone else have a situation like this? If so, did you just use the address in Chinese or other foreign language?

When that happened to me I emailed the buyer and asked for him to give me his address in English, which he did but he also told me to put the address written in Chinese on the other side of the package also because lots of the mail people in China don't read good English

Most countries require their postal carriers to pass an English exam ,how can they deliver foreign mail if they cannot read English?

Yes hawhaw I know and agree with you but my customer said they don't read GOOD English, just telling you what he said.

Here in New York I have mail carriers who don't speak Good English and don't understand what I'm saying to them, so go figure, I'm sure they had to pass an English test also.

Same as some kids that Graduate High School, but can only read 6th level reading.

I ship to Chinese addresses. Once I figured out how to print them, I haven't had a problem with them. Just make sure the country is in English.

I have shipped to China, Japan, and Russia, with address in their language. Never had any problems.

pixiamom is correct in that the country name should be in English. The key to leaving the U.S. is the country designation. The key for delivery is the Zip.

Some of the more rural areas in China don't do well with the English written addresses. I've had this request before, they provided me the English version also and I cut, pasted and printed the Chinese version and used both on the package.

You need the English version as well for handling as it goes to China. I don't think there's anything strange about it, he knows his mail carriers and knows they'll mess up the English version, you should appreciate his offering the Chinese version as well.

I've pretty much cut out all international shipping, too risky.

Great... I refunded the buyer's payment according to Paypal.

The odd thing is that some of the chinese text will have a one digit number in the middle of it. Is that normal?

If he emails me back I will tell him to just resend it if those odd single digits aren't a problem

The address does have China in English as well as the postal code in plain text.

It's not my pc b/c everything else is in English, even on the PP page. It was only his address.

I emailed him and asked him to change it. He did, but in the process he bid on a second item (exact same) and made payment only for the second item. I guess he thinks he was supposed to "reorder" it.

I filed a mutual auction termination, but will ebay still charge me listing fees b/c the bidder screwed this up by using another buy it now?
