Auction ends over a week ago. Buyer doesn't follow TOS. Ignores my invoices and doesn't contact me. So, I file a dispute.

All of a sudden the bidder responds through the dispute, "I have asked the seller to ship using a more reasonable postal category and am awaiting a response "

WHAT???

So of course there they are complaining about the outrageous $22 International Priority Shipping price. He wants it shipped to Canada using 1st class mail. I explain to him why I can't ship it via 1st class. His response is that other sellers do it. I don't care. They obviously haven't been burned before.

I give him the only two options I have if I want to be covered by Paypal. 1) use standard International Priority w/a real box for $22 or use a Flat Rate envelope for $12.95 that is flimsy cardboard and isn't meant to protect a shirt.

I agree with the guy that the price is outrageous... but I also can't afford to take the risk on things anymore. I even sent him the link to Paypal. I don't think he really gets it. He thinks I should trust him b/c he has over 1000 feedbacks. Unfortunately, it doesn't matter how many feedbacks he has b/c if the item gets lost in the mail, he will be the first one to contact Paypal and request a refund. Paypal will ask me for proof of shipping/delivery and I won't have it b/c 1st class doesn't offer it.

It really bugs me that as a 1000+ feeback buyer, he knew full well what the stated shipping charges are before he bid. I have to play nice guy to appease him and avoid low DSRs and bad feedback... so I play sympathetic seller. Sorry, I'm just blowing off steam.

shagmidmod, I truly feel the frustration. Since I only ship by USPS Priority Mail to Canada and other global locations, I have had to deal with the same problems as you.

Hold firm. He knew what the shipping options were when he purchased your item. If he refuses to pay, offer to cancel the sale, block the trouble maker, move on and never look back.

You are never going to win this one. Give into his demands, you will still get dinged, and possibly have the item turn up missing.

The entire system stinks. Sometimes I ask myself if I am selling stamps or feedback.

You can either ship first class mail and insure the item with DSI or UPIC
Or
put the shirt in a box or between some sturdy cardboard paper and then place it inside the priority envelope.

I'm shipping it Priority Flat Rate. This service doesn't offer insurance.
