Thanks to tonimar for giving a heads up on new ebay policies regarding filing disputes on the 4th day.
This is one thing eBay got right for sellers. If we have to ship in 3 days, bidders should pay within 3 days.
I will ease into this new policy, but by the end of November I will be filing NPB disputes the first chance I get and closing them as quickly as I can too. I don\'t want to give bidders any chance to leave negs or bad DSRs if they can\'t make payment in a week.
Too many bidders are taking their sweet time making payments... and it seems the ones with better feedback are more guilty of being slow than those with little bid history. This has been most evident since early summer.
It will likely blind side some bidders, so I don\'t want to go too far at first... but kudos to eBay for finally throwing sellers a bone. Now start giving us our listing fees back due to NPB.

I would also highly recommend changing your payment policies to reflect the new time line to file. Wouldn't want anyone to think they have a week to pay and then receive disputes from ebay after the 4th day.

I think filing on the 4th day is a bit harsh. I sell lower priced items which can afford the slack. I still get the occasional check/MO in the mail and sometimes get additional sales from someone who bought a few days ago and continues shopping when they have time to take advantage of shipping discounts.

In my auctions I have always listed 3 days as being when payment is due. I feel since they have to pay with paypal their is no reason why they can't meet the 3 day limit.
If they are bidding on other items I ask them to please let me know.
If a buyer goes and buys from a web site as I do all the time they know payment is due as soon as your checking out. Why should it be any different with Ebay?
When you file on the 4th day Ebay just sends them a reminder email that payment is due by the 4th day. Instead of sending the buyer a reminder email I let Ebay do it. It also covers me just in case the buyer decides not to pay at least I started my FVF process.
I was just thinking that maybe it can be mentioned under payment, where I say payment is due within 3 days of auction end. I could say Ebay expects payment to be made within 4 days of auction end. How does that sound?

I would keep it to the 3 days. Why add the extra day since ebay has subtracted 3 days?
3 days is plenty of time to make payment in my book. It seems the longer it takes for payment to be made, the less likely it will ever happen.
I am sure eBay has found out the hard way with their new policies that bidders are needing that nudge as well. eBay doesn't get paid until we get paid. Bidders are paying slower than ever, and it screws up inventory if I am holding something for 14 days for someone that isn't going to pay for... especially during the holiday season.
I want that item back on ebay as quickly as possible if someone isn't going to pay for it, especially if I have limited stock or it is one of a kind. I don't want to hold things for deadbeats.
