I'm pretty sure that it was used by radio stations for advertising spots. I have a whole stack of them - all different colors and companies but I don't know how to research them to see if they have any value or not. They are only pressed on one side and I found some with dates from the 1950's???

You find the most interesting things!! I think you are on the right track about what they are and the time frame, wish I knew something to help you.

Hi. Cunningham & Walsh was one of the first American advertising agencies. Pretty well known in their day. They were bought out in the 1980s. Anyway, looks like you might have a stack of radio commercials. The records would get sent out to stations running the clients' spots. They later changed to tape. I'm sure it's all digitized now. Don't know the value, though.

Your value for the advertising spots is going to depend greatly on the products/companies being advertised. There should be some pretty good value for anything from big brands (thinking particularly Coca-Cola) and especially for ones with easily identifiable jingles... (think Oscar Mayer) and/or any with celebrity endorsements (like George Burns & Gracie Allen for Maxwell House).

I think it might be worth getting out a record player and taking a listen....

rutabaga - Commercial is the word I was looking for. I found a few listings using that and they aren't highly valued but not bad for what I paid for them.

eauctionmgnt - I can only hope as I hadn't look thur all of them yet. Maybe I've got an early Elvis commercial or something - we can dream can't we!!

pmelcher - thanks. My friends tell me I should write an ebook on garage sales shopping. It would be short but I do have a few rules that seem to work.

With all the colors and different sizes they would make really neat decorations for a game room or something.

I'd list them in Collectibles/Advertising, among other spots.

i just came across a stack of mint condition 45's from beatles, elvis, motown stuff, and the monkee's. one of the monkee records label says it is only for jukeboxes.

i'll be looking them up tomorrow, though i doubt there is much value. the original sleeves are gone. it appears these may have belonged to a radio dj and some are probably reissues. all of them were in blue cardboard sleeves inside of clear vinyl sleeves with labels on the top tabs.
