Rant, Rant, Rant,
When is communication too much??
ebay sends automatic emails . I use PayPal for labels and the buyer receives a shipping update email from them. I have had buyers complain about too many emails after a transaction so I try to keep the emails I send to a minimum but I also keep getting hits to the Communication DSR. My question is how do you win this one??
You cannot stop the ebay emails and with so many emails going to the customer after a sale, do they even know when you have sent a personilzed one?
Look at all this junk. I don't want it in my inbox, why do buyer's want it??
Emails eBay sends for you -
1. After the buyer has completed checkout - Order Confirmation Preview
2. After item is marked as shipped* -
Order Update Preview
*After you print a shipping label or mark an item as shipped or after shipping or tracking information is added
3. 48 hours after item has sold - Payment Reminder Preview
Note: To customize these emails, you have to upgrade to Selling Manager Pro for $15.99 a month!
Emails the seller can send to the buyer if you are using Sales Manager or Sales Manager Pro:
1. Winning buyer notification - why bother when ebay has already mailed them?
2. Payment reminder - ebay is automatically sending this at 48 hours. Won't it just tick them off if you send another one?
3. Payment received notification - I ship within 24 hours so I rarely use this one.
4. Request for shipping address - I rarely use this one sonce I only ship to their PayPal address include with the payment.
5. Feedback reminder - HaH! with feedback return down below 30%, I selom bother using this one anymore.
6. Shipping notification - I only send this one when the item has been shipped FedEx or I expect transit time to be longer than usual.
7. Personalized email- I send this one if shipping will be delayed due to Holiday weekends or when I notice an order took too long to be delivered. There are also a few special instances that require real communication between me and the buyer.
8. Pending Payment for eBay Item - I always use this one when they buyer has paid with an echeck.
Maybe I am just grumpy but if a buyer needs a penpal before they can rate communication at 5, then I guess I will keep taking the occasional kit to my DSRs. I am too busy shipping orders an having a personal life to be sending update emails every step of the order process. Besides, ebay seems to be doing a fine job of annoying my buyers with all those other emails.

I don't get it either. My communications star gets dinged even though they are advised throughout the entire transaction of the transaction's status. Geesh, what more do they want? Personal phone calls?
