A few excerpts from DailyFinance.com which may answer the question of declining ebay sales -

"In an ominous development for eBay, only 13% of people described the company as "the best e-commerce shopping experience," down from 27% in March of 2009, in a poll released by Piper Jaffray last week. By contrast, Amazon was named "the best" by some 65% of respondents, up from 35% over the same period.

In a survey of so-called "Power Sellers" -- users who move a lot of products online -- Khan found that 56% sold all of their volume on eBay, down from 65% in the same poll one year ago.

Meanwhile, a survey of buyers by Wall Street analyst group MKM Partners found that "nearly 43% of all consumers who shop online select Amazon.com as their No. 1 preferred site, by far surpassing 'other miscellaneous sites' (27.5%) and EBay (only 10.3%)."

MIA.

I only have a few things listed on eBay and when all that stock is blown out, I doubt I will do much more. Fees are too freaking high. Especially when you consider other advertising opportunities like AdWords (where I often pay 5 cents a click), Facebook (just started ads there) and those sites where they wear your t-shirt for a day.

I'm done with the Macy's jewelry. Right now I'm bagging it up the remainder and sending it to long-time customers who might get some use out of it.

I often wonder where they get their information and who responds to their survey. I am a PowerSeller and nobody asked me .

I listed items on Amazon last year. I had no competition on these items but Macys. They were high quality, new, mint items. Macys was selling the exact same items for straight list. I was discounting the identical items 40-50%.

I sold zero, zip, nada for six months. Since you cannot search for completed items on Amazon, I do not know if Macys sold any.

In the same time period I sold dozens on Ebay all starting at the same price as on Amazon and many sold for higher prices when they were in the auction format.

Go figure!!

Fees are high on Ebay. My experiment on Amazon did not cost me a cent since nothing sold!!

I have had nothing listed at eBay since December 31st. Just an empty store waiting for news of changes on January 26th.

All my efforts and advertising are direced to one store. I doubt that I will ever again use the eBay store. I am unsure where eBay will fit in the future.
