Hi, all: I usually list my auctions to end between 6 and 7:30 p.m., pacific time. I'm noticing most of my sales are to midwesterners and southerners. Should I have them end later to catch the Californians? (I've always figured that by 7:30 they're watching TV or such; could be wrong, huh!) Thanks. ~Adele

Hi Adele
I sell a lot of items to Californians so I try to end my items around 8 PM California time. Works good for me.

I used to list around bedtime, varied by location time zone. Apparently, so did everyone else. Now, I list whenever, usually in midday. Edited to add, best match search has really screwed up predictable search order. Your item may end in 1 hour and not make the first search page.

I think it really depends on your target buyers. I sell mostly craft items, and most of my sales are during the day. I think that women either go online at work, or during the day at home. Probably have kids (or husbands) who hog the PC in the evening. I think if you are selling things like sports related etc. aimed mostly at men, then evenings are the best time to end items. I sell mostly in my store, so closing times really don't matter.

I am on the West Coast of Canada so am on Pacific time and we sell a lot to the mid-west and Eastern states.

We usually list at the time it is more convenient for us which is some time between 5.30pm and 7pm PST.

I have experimented with different times but find that these work best for us.

I am not sure that there is any one correct answer to this questionn!

There are more factors to listing times than just attracting those on the left coast.

Do you sell unique items that there are very few on ebay or none at all? If so, you have more free range to list later in the evening.

If you sell more common items, you may find it more valuable to have your items list a bit earlier. As the evening winds down, you will find less and less bidders ponying up for more common items. If there are 10 similar items ending before yours, then you are losing 10 potential bidders who bid on the other items.

If you are concerned about shipping costs b/c you are on the West Coast, then obviously listing later may be more attractive.

The other thing I consider is that when auto launching auctions, there may be a glitch that prevents them from launching. An earlier start means you have time to correct the error before it gets too late.

I used to be obsessive about time and date, etc for listings to end. I no longer give it a moments thought. If something is unique and desirable,it is listed for a week, so if people are interested, they will find it. If there is no interest, it really doesn't matter the time or day.

I do not list things to end in the middle of the night or at dawn, but morning, midday, early evening, late evening, week days, weekends. It does not seem to matter as much as whether your item has an interested audience.

I am closer to the east coast but I tend to list items between 6 and 8 pst. I seem to have sales from all areas.Judging from my BINs, I have just as many East coasters shopping at 1 AM as west coasters at 7 AM. I have given up on trying to find the trends and just list at whatever time is best for me.
