Neva, my cats favorite toys: pieces of lego and styrofoam peanuts. I realize that they would no be safe for some cats who would try to put them in their mouths, my cat just bats them around and chases them. The expensive toys I bought when he was a kitten went unused.

I actually have filled the toe of a stocking with catnip and then tied it with twine. My cats love this toy - get high on the catnip and carry it around like a mouse.
My mother's cats bat around her knee-hi nylon hosiery.

I left my cat at Mom's, totally stoned on her cats' catnip toys. Normally attentive, I don't think he even noticed when I left... Time to have that discussion to just say NO! Edited to ask: I heard that cats with a proclivity to catnip also love chlorine bleach. Is this true? When I clean the tub, my cat rolls all over it.

My cat loves Velcro hair rollers. If I leave the drawer open - he goes in and takes them. I find them all over the house.
Then I found some Velcro lint balls for a dryer with bright pink and green strips. He really really loves them.
