Hi hoping some of you knowledgeable folks can help me out I acquired a piece of hand molded glass at auction, upon inspecting with a magnifying glass I found an L.C. Tiffany Favrile signature. I know this mark has been forged a lot in the past, and not having a Tiffany Glass book I have no reference points, except what I have read on line. It appears to be legit but would like some glass experts opinions. Thanks in advance one way or the other! Hope my pics turn out

You could google a number of sites that show genuine, as well as spurious Tiffany. The vase you show does not have enough characteristics of LCT for me to feel it is genuine.

My thoughts too, although some of the early pieces of hand wrought glass by LC Tiffany seem to be of a cruder shape. What is throwing me off is I only found the signature by looking with a magnifying glass, and it is in the correct counter clockwise direction. The piece was bought only as a piece of unnamed art glass at auction because I though the iridescence was nice. In any case it will still sell as a nice art glass vase
Good site about tiffany fakes http://www.tiffanyfakes.com/the_fakes_20.htm wish he included more pictures of the fake sigs.

The glass is really beautiful.
Did Tiffany ever leave the pontil mark unpolished? I wouldn't think they would but I'm far from an expert.

On some forms the pontil was left rough; there is also a wafer-type piece of glass that was sometimes used.
But I dont' think I have ever seen authentic Tiffany with a base like the original poster's (or what looks like a lopped off top). LCT was marketing to a sophisticated clientele, and their workmanship was very good.

I agree the piece looks like it has been cut down, I think it is safe to conclude that this is a nice piece of art glass and will be sold as such. I appreciate everyones input.
