Can we talk about return policy?

As a Seller
1. What good is it having a return policy?
Ans.. No Good

2. Why have a set time for an item to be return?
Ans. So the buyer can send it back whenever they feel like it.

3. Can a seller stick to their return policy?

Ans. NO, Because once the buyer sends you the item back, even a month later if you don't return there money they make a claim with paypal, and show pp that the tracking number shows it arrived back.

So, Why does Ebay even tell us to have a return policy?? The buyer does what they want and at there own convenience.

You also can get a neg by the buyer if you don't follow THEIR (the buyer)Guide Lines which is....I will do as I want and when I want to do it...because you know I can Neg your FB and lower your DSR.......

I could go on an on but I can't handle the frustration I get when even thinking about this crap.

I have had good luck with a NO RETURNS return policy. No one has asked to return an item yet, (cross my fingers). I would, however handle it on a case by case if, for example, I sent the wrong item, etc.

I know buyers can be PITA sometimes when they decide they are going to dictate a sellers policy, they sure would not get away with that in the retail world. So sorry you are having trouble!

I also have a No Returns policy. I think have one encourages bidders who who regret bidding, or just change their minds. If someone has a problem, I almost always refund, but unless it is an expensive item, I don't ask for it to be returned. This has worked very well for me.

I feel your pain tonimar1. We have less and less control over our business. Totally at the buyers mercy.
About all you can do is block them and move on. I've added several to my BBL recently.

I do have a Return Policy..usual thing, 3 Days with a Money Back but I have the paragraph below in there and have not had one request for a return since EBay insisted we state Policy.

"RETURNS: Very rarely have we had any problems occur however if they do then we handle them on a case by case basis.
If we have misrepresented the item then we will gladly refund your money. Please email us before leaving feedback and we will work with you. We have many happy repeat customers."

I have a buyer who bought 2 items and the minute she open the package, she said return is on the way.
Well,6.95 shipping is not refundable plus she has to pay return shipping,so she is out 10 dollars just to look at the items.

hwa- i agree. there are two reasons NOT to include Free Shipping.

1) Returns- when the person returns the item, they expect the full amount back.

2) Fees - you don't pay FVF on shipping.

If they return an item and end up filing with paypal - they will get the original SH cost back as well - only cost them to send it back.

With eBay's new Buyer Protection Policy, some sellers are seeing buyers automatically (and quickly) refunded over the slightest hiccup. eBay is demanding a credit card number from some sellers so the refunds can be charged to it.

eBay isn't paying for their own BPP, but what else did we expect?

Oh, and the buyer doesn't have to send the item back. The refund is near-instant.
