Seriously. Ebay is setting up an unnecessary adversarial relationship it's hard sometimes to remember that most of them are just good folks like we are.

I recently returned from a two week vacation to the Caribbean. I put my store on vacation but allowed buyers to purchase in my absence. I posted notices in my listings, in my store and in my post-sale notices. I even offered free shipping (no big deal for postcards).

I just got this email from a customer in response to my shipping notification where I explain the star rating system at the bottom:

" Maryann, don't worry, you will get 5 stars throughout and a positive comment. As far as the delay due to your vacation, let me say that if I have gone 52 years without your postcard and survived, I can certainly wait another two weeks longer. Thank you for apprising me and others about the feedback situation. It is unfair to you sellers when you are not allowed to lambast a buyer who is being a schmuck, but we in turn can affect the quality of your business by our ratings.

Prior to your email, I have given everyone top feedback as this is what I'd want if I was a seller. I think the whole thing is so cheezy and phony anyway, as I have been lauded with such flowery praise in my feedback for doing nothing more than paying for postcards in a timely way. Big deal. I don't like what I see where this company has you dealers walking on eggshells in fear of ever dissatisfying a customer. From similar emails like yours of apologies and explanations, it is easy to see that ebay has some of you under pressure to be just perfect, and it's unrealistic. It's enough to make any mommy into a moody person.

I hope your vacation was a way to get out of the cold and a chance to relax from the headache of dealing with ebay. They do seem to have the near-monopoly on online antique buying, and they're arrogant about it. I look to the day when I can buy old postcards from folks like you over another site, and we can all tell ebay to kiss off."

Made my Day!

Absolutely something eBay needs to see. What a great message.

I would send to eBay but doubt that I actually could get someone to read it. Maybe I will post on Power Sellers Board (though I probably will get roasted) - I think they read that every now and then.
