Thanks Adele, your post started an interesting but perhaps a bit geeky conversation in our house about Day Light Savings time.

For those of you like myself who seem to always be caught off guard by the "man"-dated DLST change, here is a bit of interesting history: http://aa.usno.navy.mil/faq/docs/daylight_time.php.

Reminds me of my first job after college and marriage: I was a reporter for the Las Vegas Review-Journal and was asked to write a feature story about daylight saving time, which was coming up soon. I did a lot of research and learned, among other things, that some of the most vociferous opponents of time change were farmers. They said the cows' milking time was off, feeding time was off, and generally the animals on the farm got all confused over the change.

Living in Las Vegas, I really didn't understand why we needed more daylight hours at the end of the day, in the hot weather. It just prolonged the heat agony.

LOL, those poor cows. Few real farmers need a clock to know when it was time to milk but I guess industrial farms can not have the luxury of waiting for the cows to come to the milk barn on their own time.

Roadsmith..yep, it's the poor old cows that caused parts of Canada not to use Daylight Savings time too. Mostly parts of Saskatchewan and some parts of Northern British Columbia.

Here's a link to our info. Please note I live in a 'civilised' area that makes the most of Daylight Savings time!
