whenever i am looking for a coupon code, i just google, "coupon code apple store" or whichever site i am seeking.
i'm not sure there are any "real" coupon codes for the apple store other than on non-apple brand accessories. i know you can get some hefty discounts buying refurb computers, which is what i am typing on right now.

I seriously doubt there's any coupon for an iPad. Having used Macs for over 20 years, I don't ever remember hearing about an Apple issued coupon. There are some aftermarket retailers like MacMall who issue coupons giving you some special deal like a free printer or something, but the price you pay for the computer will never be less than you get it for at the Apple website or retail store. The only reason to buy an Apple product from somebody besides Apple is sales tax. Since there are Apple Stores all over the place, chances are you'll pay tax if you order online.

Actually, you can buy apple products for less than apple retail, but there is usually a catch or gimmick.
I have a membership to a local apple retailer called Mac Force. They offer discounts on apple products. It varies, but it is normally $10-50 off the apple retail price... but I had to pay $20 for my annual membership. I did so primarily to take advantage of the classes and support i get for my macs.
The iPad isn't available yet as a refurb, but when it does come available I wouldn't hesitate to get one through this service. You'll save 10-20% off retail. I don't think the iPad is available at Mac Force yet. I know apple gave it limited release. You may find an open box at Best Buy at 10% off.

Just be careful about buying a refurbed iPad.
Lo those many years ago I bought a refurbed PowerBook G3 (Wall Street). It was a fantastic laptop, but the screen was burned in in the upper left-hand corner. Refurbs are often demo machines and this one clearly had been.
For only $150 more I could have gotten a brand-new PowerBook.

I just can't justify buying an iPad yet. The $499 model only works on WiFi and even here in Silicon Valley you often aren't in range. I would love to have one to use at the gym while I'm on the treadmill, but again no WiFi.
