The last month or two, I've noticed that the view or hit count on individual auctions is quite different between My eBay and Vendio control panel summaries. And on some days, the My eBay count is ridiculously high. Vendio's counts usually look reasonable. Rather weird - wondered if there was any reasonable explanation or just a glitch in eBay's software.

if those items are fixed price good til canceled i think ebay just keeps a continuous count on them.

I asked about this a month or so ago. Someone here said that one venue (Vendio??) counts every hit; the other venue (eBay??) counts each buyer's hit just once and if he/she looks at my item several times, those hits won't be counted on (eBay??). Not sure about this.

Vendio says that eBay counts every hit.
Vendio counts hits just once...IF that is how you have your counters set up on your Vendio account. You can chose to have them count unique viewers or every hit.

But I do think eBay has some sort of glitch going on that is affecting one of my items. It keeps going up about 20 times the "normal" number even for an item with a lot of hits! Every time I look it goes up by 100 rather than a few. It is curious, but there is definitely something wrong. Talk about rediculously high!

I figure lone item is not the only one seeing this apparent anomoly.

On a couple days I had all the items I listed get a 100-odd views in eBay within the first few hours. No way was that normal for my auctions.

I have an item right now that was listed at 6pm. It already has 13 watchers.

My experience is that eBay's hit counter does actually only count multiple views by the same person only once. If you hit refresh on your computer or revisit it, you don't see the numbers change unless you clear your cache.
