I am tired of worry and bad news! Has anyone had a great garage sale find or a sale on eBay that went higher than they expected? There have not been many sales in my area because of the holiday, but maybe this weekend things will pick up.

Good for you, Jane. Way too much doom & gloom.

Here's my great news!

We went to our local live Auction House last week and bid on a box lot of about 45 -50 Children's VHS tapes.
There were Baby Einstein tapes, Grover & Friends, Thomas the Tank Engine and lots more. There were educational tapes for up to Grade 4. There was also a large bag of Children's Card Games, that had never been used. Old Maid, Fish and others.

We got them for $1.00. I guess everyone has got rid of their VCR's.

We have a great Grandson who is the light of our lives and will be 3 in August. We have already given him a few of them and will give them a couple at a time.

Any day that I see a smile on that little face is a good day for me!

I forgot to say that they will be played on a VCR that we also bought at auction last Fall for them as we were seeing lots of good VHS tapes at Yard Sales & Flea Markets.

We paid $2.00 for the machine!

Here's my good news! I use a 6-drawer plastic modular drawer system to organize my ads listed in my website. I used to buy from Quill for $48.49. Well... I found out a few months ago that OfficeMax sells them much cheaper at $31.49. That alone is good... but it gets better!

I got a $30 off coupon for a purchase of $200 or more from OfficeMax this weekend. I went to re-order more drawers... and found out that they were on sale! (buy 1 get 1 at 50% off). Plus there was free s/h for any order over $50! I bought a total of 10 of them on Tuesday. Five of them arrived on Wednesday, the rest arrived today. Talk about service! I got 10 units for what 4 would have previously cost... plus next day delivery! I'm happy!

Great - one of the best feelings in the world is when you find a bargain for something you really need.

I bought a Thomas the train ride on train at a yard sale for 10.00 about a month ago. I had to buy a new battery off eBay (29.95) with free shipping. These sell at Amazon for around 499.99 and it came right at my grandbaby 1st birthday. We cheated and tied the button down cause he not quite old enough to push it himself but he rides it like a pro

It looks like your grandchild and I dress alike. I usually do all my computer work, in my underwear (no diaper yet )

Reminds me of Gary Shider of Parliament Funkadelic who recently passed away (I guess that doesn't qualify for good news)

I just sold a set of chairs on eBay for $1000 that I couldn't get $650 out of here in my local market. I also have a 1959 Coleman Lantern with Abercrombie and Fitch case that I bought for $10 at an estate sale. It is currently up to $101 with 49 watchers and 3 days to go.

I bought a box of mens jewelry for $20 at a yard sale. The first three sales from it totaled over $110.

Thanks Jane, I love happy threads.

I sold a LV trunk for a friend. It was well worn but still sold for over $1000. Wasn't even a logo trunk.

I love this post too.

My happy news is that after going to the Humane society every week for two years, a couple of months ago we found the perfect dog. He is a miniature schnauzer - wheaten terrier mix, about 7 years old and he has become my little darling. It is such a pleasure to come home to his "doggy dance of joy". He had been abandoned and was roaming the streets when he was found - he had been spayed, tail docked, microchipped and obviously well cared for at one time, but they could find no trace of his owner. He had never been around other dogs and did not know how to walk on a leash (still a work in progress!) and did not know how to play. They tell me at the Humane Society that more and more dogs are just being abandoned to roam the streets because people cannot afford to keep them. Very sad. It is amazing how much pleasure a dog can bring into your life!

Congratulations on your new family member, Jane! It would kill me to go to the Humane Society that often (just one trip leaves me in tears) -- but you persevered and that little dog is just finding out how lucky he is.

As for garage sale finds, last week I found six Franciscan Ivy Irish coffee mugs -- pretty rare. I haven't had time to put them on eBay yet, may try Replacements Ltd. first.
