eBay claims they're interested in eliminating problem buyers.

Wish I had faith in eBay... but time and time again eBay does nothing at all about problematic bidders.

I had one bidder a few weeks ago that did BIN on a $200 item. Shipping costs stated in the calculator. They paid, but didn't pay shipping to Singapore, which was $60. I refunded payment and sent numerous invoices. No response. I tried to file a dispute, but eBay's system didn't allow me to do so. I called eBay to address the problems.

1) why didn't the invoice include shipping? ebay response: there is a glitch that isn't invoicing shipping costs for some international items.

2) why can't i open a dispute since the bidder didn't pay shipping costs and won't pay for the item now? ebay response: the system won't allow you to open a dispute even if the bidder made a partial payment.

3) can you open the dispute for me? ebay response: sorry, but we can refund your FVF, but a dispute cannot be opened.

eBay allows the bidder off the hook on this with no NPB warning. go figure.

a few months back i reported a buyer who bought a brand new sealed camera from me. after a week, they claimed it didn't work. i told them they could return it at their cost for an exchange. they ignored my offer and opened a claim. eBay told them to return the item for a full refund. when the item arrived, it was a beat up, scratched, broken camera, no box, no accessories, nothing. The serial number plate had obviously been removed and replaced with the serial number plate of the camera i shipped them (cracking where the screws were tighted too much). i filed a police report, reported him to eBay, and yet... eBay did nothing.

Why should we bother with stuff like this if eBay doesn't follow up or investigate these matters further. They pretend they care so that we feel good about selling... but the bottom line is eBay could care less.
