I just bought a new Lexmark Pinnacle Pro901 4-in-1 ink jet printer for our store. Got a great deal at Staples. Reg: $299, Sale $199 - $50 Trade In Rebate. Total $149.

I've used it several times and have to say, it is quite a nice printer.

The best features:

$5 Black Ink Cartridges give 500 pages. Color cartridges are typical lifespan and cost.

Lexmark is offering a 5 Year Warranty.

Wireless Features, print anywhere.

The only bad feature I have found is that it has only one paper tray. I have to unload paper to print envelopes or labels. Not a biggie, only because I use it more for printing documents, copies, scanning, and faxing.

Anyhow, it is nice to find a printer out there that isn't going to gouge you in the wallet every time you run out of ink. You can buy 4 packs of 500 page cartridges at Office Max for $18.99.

I'm curious. I've always been an Epson fan, but my latest Epson is a nightmare. It's an Artisan 700 wireless all in one. It prints beautifully, but has 6 colors plus black and will NOT print in B and W if one of the color cartridges is out. It seems that at least one color is always on the verge of going empty. It's costing a small fortune in ink and I don't print all that much.
How are the color cartridges in the Lexmark holding out? Can you print B and W if you're out of a color? How many color cartridges does it have? How easy was the wireless setup? The Epson was a real PITA.

I have a CX5000 it works fine except for the 60 bucks in catridges it needs now and then. I would not buy another Epson. I would need more info to see if this was a deal or just a marketing scam. I recall reading the Kodak line of printers offer the best price on catridge refills. The best bet is to find one that allows you to refill the cats.

I haven't had experience yet with it running out of color ink to test whether it still functions in black and white. I did ask the person at Staples this question and he said he thought it did (of course this is a guess and in favor of promoting the unit).

Either way, I used to pay $40-70 for toner for a monochrome laser printer that yielded 2500 pages. It only did b&w.

I don't do much color printing, but this is replacing another Lexmark All In One I had previously where cartridges cost significantly more with lower yields.

With our recent move, we have had to downsize. We used to have 2 printers. One laser for B&W and an all-in-one for faxing, scanning, and copying.

This unit was the most effective means for us to eliminate the extra laser printer while keeping b&w printing costs down. It gives us everything we need and then some.

This printer also does duplexing (2 sided printing).

I did email Lexmark to inquire about b&w printing with empty color cartridges.

my old fax machine is not working well,so I am now looking at all in one printer which can scan (flatbed),print, copy and fax and I have found HP WIRELESS OFFICEJET 6500 ,after rebate on HP site is 99.99 with free shipping.
It does 2 side printing, comes with 4 ink cartridges and great customer reviews(may be they all work for HP).
Should I buy it?

It is 50 dollars cheaper than yours and no sales tax but free shipping.

Buy.com is selling it at 174.99,so you got a good deal.
I wonder like every electronic device, would it get cheaper in a few months?

I have had 2 HP printers. One worked sort of. To me they seem to take control of the computer. If the printer isn't working nothing is working. for instance if I shut the printer off because I wasn't using it I would get warning messages that the printer was off. Often once I turned it on I would have to go through printer setup again, which might take an hour. The other one I had for about 2 hours and it just didn't work.
I'm sure they have been improved or not,If some place was giving away brand new HP printers I wouldn't take it.
Before buying any new printer I would find out the cost of catridges. I would be willing to pay more for the printer if the cats were cheap.

I have an old HP PSC750 ALL IN ONE PRINTER,BUT IT DOES NOT DO FAXING.
I paid more than 200 dollars for it 7 years ago,it is a work horse for printing shipping labels and it uses generic BW recycled cartridges,my color ink cartridge ran out years ago and the printer does not care.
Sometimes I have to unplug and replug it to make it work and it is slow.

Do you notice the new appliances with plastic body, the plastic is thin and if you drop it,it would break?
I went to office depot the other day looking for all in one printer and they may look good online but in shop, they all look rather 'cheap' with thin plastic and too many features!

That figures. They'll always find a way to keep us buying ink. I just read a review on that machine that said it's recommended especially for those who mostly print b and w, as the color cartridges are neither longer lasting nor particularly cheap....I guess I'll keep shopping.

I wonder if we really need a wireless all in one printer which scan?
how many of us would want to go to one room and place an item to be scanned and then go back to the pc in another room and scan it,and then return to retrieve it or put another book/item to scan again?

The scanner for me is more for copying one document vs. using the feeder. However, it is nice to have a scanner because I do occasionally sell vintage photos. Scanning is better than photographing.

After using this printer for a month, I find it to be the best ink jet printer I have owned. Very easy to use, Lexmark answered my questions quickly, and there is lifetime support through an 800 number. It has worked flawlessly. Labels print perfectly centered, no misalignments. No glitches so far.

It is nice to have a printer that gives us great options and the flexibility of having one machine that does everything we need in an office machine while cost friendly b&w copies. For us, B&W is the most common thing we do, however we do use the color for other things too.
