Happy Thanksgiving to all my fellow Canadians.
Happy Columbus Day to all my American Vendio friends.
Off to eat Turkey at my Daughter & Granddaughter's house today.
Granddaughter works tomorrow and Monday so we have to eat turkey today!
Should be fun as they called early this morning to ask which side of the Turkey was the 'Breast-up side'!!!!
Yesterday Daughter invaded my house looking for a tablecloth, Napkin rings and ooops...better have some Napkins to go with the Napkin Rings.
They have never cooked a whole turkey before.....hmmmmm.
Edited for typos!

TURKEY RECIPE
I thought this sounded good, Here is a turkey recipe that includes
the use of popcorn as a stuffing ingredient -- imagine that. When I found
this recipe, I thought it was perfect for people like me, who just are not
sure how to tell when turkey is thoroughly cooked, but not dried out. Give
this a try.
8 - 15 lb. turkey
1 cup melted butter
1 cup stuffing (Pepperidge Farm is Good)
1 cup un-popped popcorn (ORVILLE REDENBACHER'S LOW FAT IS BEST)
Salt/pepper to taste
Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Brush turkey well with melted butter, salt,
and pepper.
Fill cavity with stuffing and popcorn. Place in baking pan making sure the
neck end is toward the front of the oven, not the back.
After about 4 hours listen for the popping sounds.
When the turkey's ass blows the oven door open and the bird flies across the room,.... it's done.

ROFL Niel - i was trying to figure out about the popcorn until I read the punchline - good one!
Happy Thanksgiving otteropp! Do you all have the same traditional fare as we do here: turkey, dressing, mashed potatoes and gravy, cranberries, pumpkin pie? I love the smell of the house when the turkey's in the oven ...can't wait! I guess the carbon monoxide levels are on the high side when all of that is cooking and the house is closed up against the winter cold and that's why we all feel drowsy afterwards (couldn't be overeating!).
It's Native American Day in South Dakota today.
I hope your daughter figured out that the neck and giblet pack should be removed BEFORE cooking! I know I didn't for the first turkey I cooked.

niel....that is so funny! I will pass the recipe on!
We had a super time at my Daughter & Granddaughter's house along with Great Grandson who is now 3 years old.
My daughter is 47 yrs old and this is the very first time she cooked a whole turkey!
They actually cooked a fabulous turkey and the meal looked great on My tablecloth with My napkins in MY napkin Rings etc....but that's what Mum's are for.
Neglus, that is pretty much what most folks here eat for Thanksgiving too but I always do roasted potatoes and Brussel sprouts, Rutabaga turnip, Corn, Baby carrots, Lots of Stuffing. None of us (we girls)like Pumpkin Pie so I usually make a light Dessert of fresh fruit salad or Chocolate Brandy Mousse.
Now it is back to reality until we leave for Las Vegas on the 24th!!
