Lately, the mouse on my computer is jumping all over the place! I've had Nerdz out a couple of times but the problem continues. Any computer geeks out there who can give me some suggestions? Thanks!

What kind of mouse is it?
USB connected optical, wireless optical, old PS2 plug, laptop trackpad/etc?
When I get this on my wireless optical mouse there have been two different causes - either the wireless receiver was plugged into a USB hub with too many connections or it was low on batteries (even though the Logitech software thought they were OK.)
If it's an older machine sometimes you'll get this just when the computer is working really hard, which is harder to fix since you need to free up system resources (and likely also some hard drive space if your nearing capacity.)
If you know, let everyone know what you have already tried to fix this. Did any of the solutions work temporarily?

Oh toasted...stop playing cat & mouse games with us! LOL.
We had this happen when we had adjoining offices and my hubby would use his computer and my cursor would fly uncontrollably all over the screen. He changed the frequencies on something ( How? Help, Christopher) and it worked.
Another suggestion is to press the re-set button under the Mouse and on the receiver. I also change batteries and as toasted suggested clean the little light thingy on the mouse.

Sometimes when your mouse is out of control you need to check underneath the mouse and clean the area around the feet, there are thin groves that can collect dust and distort how your mouse reacts.
Also try cleaning the area that the mouse sits on, that can also cause a problem if it is not clean.
I didn't know this until I bought a few new ones and was having the same problem as with the old one. It doesn't matter if it's a wireless or usb port mouse, just always make sure the area is cleaned often.
This is just one solution hope it helps you.

I've had both cat hair and crud on bottom of feet (pads on bottom) cause problems with my optical mouse. If you don't have an optical mouse (have the ball inside) - take out the ball and clean it with alchohol.

Thanks - mine was doing this as well so I flipped it over and cleaned the cat hair out of it and it works fine now.

Thanks, all. My mouse is the old-fashioned kind...connects with a wire. I've cleaned it, the little ball, with alcohol but will try again and check the batteries. Hope that will work. Appreciate it!

Little ball is not the problem. Remove the ball. (Twist the round piece that's around the ball on the base to remove the ball)
inside the mouse are 2 rollers, that look like short pieces of spaghetti. You have a buildup of crud on them. Scrape them the long way with your fingernail to feel the lumps. The lumps are what's causing your mouse to skip.
Your ball is probably deteriorating, which is causing the buildup of crud. Time for a new mouse.

Truer words were never spoken.
