I thought earlier that the PO was doing a stellar job of delivering all those holiday packages. People bought, I shipped the next day, some times the same day. I was getting rave reviews until a day or so ago.

Started researching: 10 days from NJ to OK (sent on 12/17 arrived 12/27!!)
7 days from NJ to TX, 7 days from NJ to WI.Packages from NJ to NJ went to Phila then back to NJ!!

These were all priority packages that when you went into the PO site said would be delivered in 2-3 days!!

Shame, shame PO!!

Umm, I live in the Northeast, weather has been fine here until yesterday. Some of these items were shipped 10 days ago. No problems in the NE when they were shipped.

sometimes it is not the weather where you are but where your package travels through or if there is any construction or rennovation, they could reroute all mail passing through that point.
if you call the 800 number or ask your postman, they may know where the blockage is .
I dont live in a major city,I sent out an express mail package on dec 24th,it has to go to Houston ,then Chicago then ??
hopefully it is the final destination.
Or it could just be that time of the year XMAS!!!!!!!!!!!!

oh good grief, hwahwa. The PO advertised they would get it there by Christmas if it was postmarked by 12/20. This package was in the mail on 12/17!! No wonder they are losing money. The other package services can do it and many times cheaper. All of the services have the same weather. And according to my acquaintances in the PO most of the package services use each others facilities so why is the PO so darn inefficiant??

ok,you are right,so what are you going to do about it?
Personally I dont feel sorry for these buyers who shop so late, have they ever heard of planning?
Like my deceased mother in law said of her second son-George is always a day late and a penny short(thats why she never get her mother's day card on time!)

you are right, also hwahwa, there is nothing I can do about it except switch carriers if it gets too bad.

Merrie, I hate to tell you butit has been my experience that NJ has THE WORST bulk mail centers in the country.

I can send 1st Class or Priority from NW Fl to CA and often see them delivered next day but I cringe when I ship anything that gets routed through NJ. My Priority packages always take 2 or more days longer than usual when routed through NJ and the only time I have ever had breakage was on packages going to the east coast.

Last year I had 2 separate shipments routed through a NJ center that were totally destroyed from rough handling. I do not remember now which bulk center it was.

Second worst bulk mail centers are in south TX in the north Houston and San Antonio areas.

Good to know LtRay. My husband is taking the print outs of the tracking to our PO today to make them aware of the sloooooow service.

NYC is no better, there is no guarantee priority mail will get there in 2-4 days.
But what other choice do we have?
I sent mostly small to medium size packages and USPS is still the most economical way to ship,I will leave them in my mail box or if I schedule for pickup, the postman just drop by on her way to the mail box to pick up the packages and there is no pickup fee!

I saw this on the Canadian community board.
From the eBay community board
"Severe weather conditions have disrupted power, communication, and transportation lines across much of the Eastern and Northeastern United States and many areas in Europe. Abnormally severe winds are currently disrupting mail services between the United States and Australia, as well.

If you are involved in an eBay transaction with a buyer or seller in one of these affected regions, please note that their ability to communicate or complete your transaction may be delayed due to this severe weather. We encourage you to be patient in this matter, both throughout the transaction and when providing feedback once your item arrives."

And, to add insult to injury, the rates are going up on 1/2!!

With crude approaching 100 dollars per barrel, all these carriers have no choice but to raise rate!
Alternative fuel such as corn or soybean is no relief.
