I have a box, 26.5 W, 14.5 D and 14 H

Who's been the best deal for this size lately?

it seems to vary all the time.

thanks!

It depends how far it is going. Parcel post is much cheaper thsn priority for a large box going coast to coast.

The best deal varies depending on distance, weight, and size. You can also add in location if you ship outside of USPS. Fed Ex and UPS add surcharges for fuel (if it is outside of their typical delivery area) and for residential service.

You'll have to crunch the numbers and see what kind of discounts you can attain from UPS or Fed Ex to lower the ocsts.

Don't forget Greyhound Express. You can open an account and get home delivery (in major cities) and online tracking etc. It's
not easy to do do the online labels but they will walk you thur it.

Vendio is advertising a new shipping service as well. I have not checked it out yet but it says they are less expensive than UPS or FedEx

Yes the bus company. It's a very well kept secret.
Depending on how far away the item is going how much you save. If it's pretty close to your location - not so much but across the country is really cheap.
Really great for large items.
It's called Greyhound Package Express.

Greyhound has a website.

I use the ground service and yes it can be delivered to your customer in major cities. There is a delivery charge and you must have an account.

I shipped a table on Tuesday and it was delivered to my customer's front door on Friday. She was delighted and said the delivery person was great. I think in some situations they even use UPS as the local delivery company. It would have cost around $150 by UPS. It cost me $105 from Jacksonville to New York. Jacksonville to California would have been even more by UPS but about the same for Greyhound.

You can also have the item picked up at your home (for a fee of course) but I live less than a mile from the station so we always take the package in.

Greyhound is great, but you should sign up for an account if you want indemnity coverage over $300.

Greyhound is also a bit strange in how they handle this coverage. The further the distance, the lower the coverage they will allow.

I shipped some chairs from Portland to Pennsylvania. I had to box them separately to make sure they had enough coverage on them because Greyhound capped the coverage.

This was a few years back, so they may have improved. We have always had great experience with their service, but haven't used it in about a year.

The nice thing about Greyhound is that your package isn't going to get buried under thousands of boxes. They place boxes in the exterior bus compartments which are limited space. Your item is unlikely to have items on top of it. Just make sure to pack it well.

UPS will be going up about 5% at the 1st of the year so Greyhound is looking even better.

Shag I've never had them limit my insurance coverage. I've insured up to $1000 for a single shipment. I have a business account so I don't know if that matter or not.

What I like best is, as you said, they don't pile up a lot of stuff on top of your shipment. Also, they don't pull your box off and on the bus. Most of the time it gets put in place and stays there until it gets to the customer. Must less abuse than UPS.
