I hope one of you can help me with this. A few years ago, I attempted to add to my searched items the words "San Jacinto" so that I could find listed items about our San Jac. mountains and perhaps Idyllwild. No matter how I tried to deliniate JUST the California San Jacinto, not the Texas San Jacinto, where the Alamo battle is memorialized, I continue to get both.

I did use the hyphen as instructed, trying to eliminate Texas, but that didn't work, and I get flooded with listed items from both locations.

(I can't just list San Jacinto CA because some sellers don't use CA, so it's got to be just San Jacinto.)

Thanks for any help you can give me. ~Adele

Adele, try the search using "San Jacinto Mountains"

The key is to use quotes around your search terms.

Adele, with this string a google search should eliminate Texas.

"San+Jacinto"+mountains+OR+California+OR+Idyllwild+-Texas

Thanks, Helen. I've given it a try and will report back.

And. . . where the heck have you been! I haven't seen you on the EO in ages. Adele

You can use Advance search and it has the exclude words option.

Right, Toolhound

Google Advanced Search

The Advanced search is especially useful if you want to search within a site or domain.

In this case, by filling in the words to add and exclude...in this case Texas, you will form the string that I posted previously.... And by playing around with it, you can usually find simple topics without extraneous info which in this case is Texas. To narrow the search it may help to exclude more than one word.

Thanks, Toolhound. Yes, I just meant that I need to have an eBay search, nowhere else. I tried the hyphen that should exclude Texas but it didn't work.

Sorry, Roadsmith that I failed to understand the nature of your search. You should have knocked me upside the head or at least let me know that I was on the wrong track!

Well, at least we tried. And that's the characteristic of this board that has been much appreciated for so long by users of Ebay and Vendio.

Like many here, I discovered this good board over 10 years ago during Paypal's inception. At that time Paypal Daemon was the deamon. Now it's niggling problems such as Ebay Search.
