I have some silver pieces but they are tarnished. I have tried cleaning them with silver cleaner but no change. Are they worth selling on ebay or shall I just sell them for scrap??

What are they - bowls - candlesticks? Are they sterling or silverplate?
Who is the maker? All of this would be helpful to determine the value.
If they won't clean it could be that they are silverplate and the silverplate is gone.
I've sold sterling scrap and it doesn't get anywhere near the scrap value like you would with gold.

Gorham sterling is very good.
TOWLE EP is plated and not so good.
The Gorham is worth listing on it's own.

I don't understand why they won't clean. Maybe they were never cleaned and just need a lot of work.
Some sellers say not to clean sterling but I always clean mine. Just try not to over clean it. Maybe if there is a silver shop in your area, you could take the pieces to them? I know there is one in Jacksonville that will clean them. It's called Simply Silver on St. Augustine Rd or Old St. Augustine Rd. They also sell dips and sprays.
Could the small cup/mug be a baby's cup and they sell pretty well too. RD could be the maker.
Good luck with them.

Actually, I have only used a silver cleaning cloth on them and will try the liquid polish next. I just don't want to sell them and then have to hassle with the buyer because he can't get them polished up. Yes, that could be a baby cup. thanks for your help

Silver wipe is light cleaning, you need heavy duty ones.
One formulae I tried is hot water with baking soda, google and you will find the details,it works.
If the erosion eats into the silver ,then it becomes pitting and nothing you can do.

'Twinkle' Silver Polish is my best friend.
Easy to use, smells pleasant and is non-abrasive.

The "dip" type cleaners will clean the silver, but leave it dull. To remove the dull look, you have to polish it.
I swear by Simimchrome polish. Maas is also very good. Both work about the same and will NOT scratch the silver.

No, I wouldn't use the dip. I did use the liquid polish and finished up with Simimchrome
Lots of elbow grease but they came out pretty nice
