I have AVG 2012 which I purchased last year after I got a virus. They told me at the time that it would not do anything to get rid of the virus as I had that before I purchased AVG. I purchased the upgrade as well.
I ended up getting a new computer and transferring my AVG 2012 to the new computer.
The other day I run a scan and had 77 threats. They were all linked to Television Fantatic or something like that.
AVG didn't remove them and said that manually doing so may make my system unstable or crash.
I called AVG and they said that 2012 didn't always catch everything and they will be happy to connect me to their advance technician but wouldn't even tell me what it would cost. What the heck did I pay for??
I went in and uninstalled the TV toolbar and it took care of all but 2 of the threats.
As this is Adware - is that dangerous and if I let AVG manually get rid of it will it crash my computer?
Is there something else that I can run to get rid of the threats that won't conflict with AVG?
TIA

Malwarebytes. You can go to nsane down and find it they have lots of stuff over there. If the front page is down you can find anything in the nsane forum by running a search.

hey I just found this one today after Eset told me I had a Trojan they removed. I wanted to check and make sure that it was "for sure" removed and I Googled it and found that Microsoft had reported it. If you look on this page you will see on the top right hand corner "Microsoft Safety Scanner". It takes a long time to run it. It is compatible with any Virus Software you have on your computer. It expires after 10 days on your computer.
