With eBay's recent shipping label changes from a Paypal based shipping to an eBay based shipping system, which is reliable to use as our ship to address?
Paypal requires that we ship to a confirmed address. I have always used the Paypal address and even state this in our listing.
I have a customer who purchased an item from us. I shipped it to the Paypal address that is confirmed. Now she is calling me saying that it was shipped to the wrong address. I see that her eBay address is different.
It was so much easier when Paypal handled this. It is getting confusing and I can see the trainwreck at the end of the tracks.

If she paid thru PayPal, you have to use the address listed in the send to notice from PayPal. It does not have to be a confirmed address to be covered.
It is the buyer's reponsibility to make corrections to address discrepencies.

About 8-10 years ago I shipped something to an unconfirmed address and got burned. Since then I have followed Paypal's Seller Protection policies. It has never failed us except that we have lost only a few sales.
My last sale we lost was from a guy who was living in London, but wanted me to ship the package to an alternate address in Pennsylvania. It was a pair of barstools valued at about $1200. He tried to dictate the entire transaction including the exact day I would ship them to him. All the red flags were raised. I blocked his ID from buying from us, canceled the transaction and relisted the item.
He attempted to repurchase them using a different ID (very similar to the first ID) with Make An Offer, but for even less than his previous offer.

Past Xmas,I made 2 sales, one to Peru and the other to UK,both are for 1K.
(1)The lady in UK also sells on Ebay, small items. She claimed she did not receive the item which is shipped with no tracking.
But she made a mistake of telling me she has paid customs on the item, this email I kept in my mail folder.
Months past and Ebay and Paypal protection have expired and she filed a chargeback with her UK credit card issuer.
I forwarded her email and shipping label to Paypal,I dont know how Paypal did it but I won the chargeback, did Paypal submit additional information to her cc issuer besides my email and shipping label??
Does it have access to UK customs clearance file?/
I dont know and it wont say?
(2)Some Chinese guy bought a watch from me on Ebay, since it is Xmas,I decided to ship USPS express mail same day .
Then I found out no one will insure this package to Peru .
Then the next day Ebay suspended his account and I received a notice from Paypal asking me NOT TO SHIP !
It turns out there is a problem with his credit card, possibly not his and he is reselling it to someone in Peru.
When he found out I declared the amount on the customs form,he has a fit as Peru customs fee is high and his buyer is too cheap to pay high customs fee.
The package lingers in Peru post office for days.
I called Paypal and asked what kind of protection do I get,Paypal said none but as a consolation price,if the watch is unclaimed it would be returned to me after 30 days and I will get my watch back.
Anyway, the buyer did pIck up the watch and so I lost a watch plus expensive shipping.
What did I learn from this lesson>
Never be too speedy in shipping, esp around Xmas, esp to Peru!esp when I cant find anyone who will insure a package to Peru.
I also should remember I could ask the USPS office to help me retrieve this package sitting in Peruvian customs office .
It is an expensive lesson,Ebay may have over 137,000 rules, but there will always be someone who succeeds in breaking 1 rule for just 1 day !

According to PayPal's "new" rules, you are protected even if you ship to an unconfirmed address. You check the eligibility on the top of the payment page.

Merrie.
Unfortunately for the Peru case,he asked me to ship to his dear friend .
trying to please your customer is not a good idea on Ebay!

Lost, i will only ship to the address listed on PayPal. They can change it for each transaction if they want. But, you have to check eligibility. Some places are not covered by seller protection. Gets complicated.

It's only takes minutes to confirm an address on paypal so if there is any money involved I would always require it.

Sometimes people want an item shipped to a freiend or relative. It is not confirmed, but the address they want it shipped to must be in the ship to area, not just a note or request. I don't even look at those.

The problem with my case of shipping to Peru is that he uses a fraudulent credit card and there is no seller protection,no matter where I shipped the item.
By the time Paypal notified me of the fraud, the next day,I have already shipped the item.
