I sold a pair of phones on eBay and plan to ship them out. The value is $800.

If I want to make sure they are received by the buyer and that ID is verified, is the best method using Registered Mail?

My main concern is fraud, though the buyer has no red flags from what I can see.

I'd also like to make sure insurance would cover it if there is any claimed damage though these are going to be packed very well.

I would ship the phones by USPS Registered Mail.

The package is shipped securely, stored securely at sorting, and the buyer (only the buyer) has to sign for the package when delivered.

I may have asked this question before-
Is the signature on registered mail receipt viewable online? for both domestic and foreign mail?

Shag,
you need more than proof of delivery, you need signature confirmation .
2 years ago my source from inside UPS told me UPS workers are stealing Iphones by opening up customer package and removing the phones,I am sure they have resolved this problem by now.

Yes, which is why I am considering shipping via Registered Mail. I wasn't sure if anyone could sign for it or if the actual recipient had to sign for it with ID.

Thanks Bill.

If registered mail signature is viewable online, then my question for foreign shipment, when will the signature be viewable online?

I tried to track my package through eBay and it has no updates other than acceptance. I entered the tracking info on USPS website and didn't see a signature.

I know they received it because they asked some questions... but I expected better service for what I paid.

did you ship your items via registered mail envelope or registered mail package?
I just found out from one forum- Electronic return receipt is purchased for $1 more at time of sending registered package. No additional forms needed. It has been used to prove to paypal that shipment was received.
Eletronic return receipt can be requested on USPS website and is delivered to you in PDF format and viewable online.
