I know eBay instituted a policy against allowing sellers to put their business names, web addresses, etc on photos, but what about general text such as "before" and "after"?
I have an item that we restored. In the past I would take two photos and create one photo and add the text. The reason I did this was to show that the item was truly vintage, not a new reproduction.
Anyone have any experience with how eBay is handling this?

sort of happened a while ago. I think it can be done don't know how. Long story short ended up saying photo on the left is before retoration photo on the right is after resto and the item you are bidding on. Still got a few q's and a happy happy email from the winning bidder!

According to this, no text can be added other than watermarks. I find these "absolute" policies to be ridiculous.
I have used text in listings strictly to help the buyer understand the item better. The "before" and "after" restoration is one example, but another is showing measurements of an item. I sell some items that really need graphic measurements so that customers understand what I am referring to.
Text that enhances the buyers experience and clarifies condition or dimensions should be allowed.
I will say, that the items I do have measurements noted in the photo have not received any warnings. I hope that it stays that way.
