I am having a problem with an item shipped on Monday, Dec. 2nd from Arizona to Oklahoma estimated deliver on Dec. 4th (lol). Priority Mail, insured and requires a signature confirmation.
Scanned when it departed Phoenix and then nothing since. It may be the weather conditions there.
I have phoned the USPS customer service and they were great, though they have no further information after the last scanning, even with their advanced Internet information. They started an investigation on it and gave me the confirmation and phone number of USPS consumer affairs if they don't get back to me by Wednesday.
I have updated the buyer, but haven't heard from her, so hoping she is not a PITA.
Anyone else having tracking problems?

It won't be updated until it gets to the final destination or the next sorting station. There is no tracking while items are in transit.

This one is way overdue to reach its destination, that's the reason USPS has started an investigation.

OMG, no I didn't know, and here I am worried about my shipment. Small potatoes compared to that.

The U.S.P.S. number is not really a tracking number like U.P.S. or FedEx. It's more like a delivery confirmation number. I had a package lost a couple of months ago. I filed a request to search for it and after a certain number of days they found nothing so I filed for a refund and they sent me a check for the cost of the item plus the cost of postage. I had already sent they buyer a replacement because he had filed "item not received" complaint with eBay. It is possible that he actually received both of them but we'll never know.

It does provide tracking, you can see it has arrived in sort facility,it arrived in local post office and finally delivered.
Our postman scanned the package as 'delivered' when she is ready to place it in our mail box.
Unfortunately I live in a subdivision and share a mail station with my neighbors sometimes she will place it in my neighbor mail box either above or below mine!!

ristores-
This is new to me,USPS refunded your shipping plus cost of package when you did not take out insurance??
In the past,USPS will do nothing.
But these packages will eventually show up ,the buyer may not tell you.

USPS is doing a good job tracking and delivering packages,so far none of my XMAS shoppers have complained about getting their package,so far??
First class stamp will soon be 49 cents.
There is more money in delivering packages.
A USPS priority mail box brings in more than 10 first class envelopes.
I hope they do well.

Not surprised at all. USPS tracking can be great or non-existent.
I have had packages that will show scanned and then nothing else the entire way. I had a Priority Mail package shipped from Dallas on a Monday that didn't arrive until Saturday. Tracking stopped in Dallas and didn't update again until it was scanned "out for delivery" 5 days later even though it went through the sort facility in Federal Way, WA and the main system in Portland.
This past week we sent a package to my mother in law. I was getting tracking updates regularly, sometimes 2-3 times a day, at least 10 updates. Shipped via Priority Mail to McAllen, TX.

how you tape your shipping label on the package could be one reason why it is not scanned,my mail man has explained to me,better have it all on one side of the box.

The package finally arrived 2 weeks after it was sent Priority Mail insured with a signature confirmation, as well. Tracking finally said it was delivered 2 days after it was.
I communicated with the buyer during the delay, she appreciated it and posted positive feedback.
