I had a customer that wanted to order two of an item I had listed at a discount. I agreed to do this and I finally figured out that I could go into the listing on ebay and change it to not require immediate payment like we usually do. I thought that would allow for the customer to order it without having to pay right then and then I could create an invoice with the discount and correct shipping fee. I wanted to do this to keep from having to issue a partial refund as I'm still charged a fee from Ebay for the full amount. This didn't happen though. I told the customer that this is what I had done, but when he ordered it it must have required him to pay right then and he did. So now my only option is to refund him the difference AND pay the high fees to ebay. Why didn't this work the way I thought? Was it because of Vendio?

could this be a timing problem?
On ETSY,any changes the shop made takes a long time to show up,could be 20-30 minutes!
On Ebay,I just tell the buyer to place the order and I will give them a partial refund,I just refund less to compensate for Ebay shipping FVF.
Unfortunately eBay themselves controls the checkout process, not Vendio. Once the item was sold, if eBay forced them to pay instantly - we wouldn't have had any say in this matter.
Chances are, if you did remove the instant payment required option, that the buyer simply chose to submit the funds after clicking to purchase the item. eBay has all of their checkout tools setup to push the buyer into completing the checkout process as soon as you click to buy it now. (even if it isn't technically required to complete the BIN process)
