Here is something that many of you might know about. However for those who might have missed the EccomerceBytes article -
"Alibaba Close to Launching eBay-Style Marketplace in US"
"Alibaba has a new subsidiary that is close to launching a marketplace in the U.S. with the help of eBay listing tools Auctiva and Vendio, which Alibaba acquired four years ago. 11 Main has hand-picked sellers and is still in the process of testing the marketplace at 11Main.com. "

I was unaware of this. I'm always willing to try a new market place to offer products. Wonder how much advertising they will do when launching.

Isn't Allibaba a wholesaler and importer of Chinese stuff? (which I call cheap junk just my opinion.) They hoped to recruit sellers form Vendio and Activa perhaps that isn't working well and now they are forming 11main to sound more American. Interesting to see when It gets going what restrictions there will be on what you can sell.

Alibaba is based in China,it does not import Chinese stuff,it is a global marketplace for buyers and sellers, but most sellers are based in China and most buyers from overseas.
This new marketplace 11main??,who are they trying to target,US buyers or Chinese buyers in China?

It would be interesting how it fares.
Etsy is becoming more and more like Ebay,-you the seller cannot cancel an order in 24 hours!
You the buyer cannot leave feedback until item is delivered!
What does it remind you of?
