Oh boy.....
Talk to people about gun control and they see red??? Can't read it correctly though their anger?
Today Fox News said the number of people buying guns has increased since the gun control issue came up during the election. Guess some are trying to show they believe they have a constitutional right to 'bear arms'.

Easier read through version.

The UN will most likely become one with the EU and the antichrist will untimately head up that global ruling body. The first thing the antichrist will do is sign a peace treaty with Israel. Then you will know who he is. If you see that happen, go here:
http://www.raptureme.com/rap34.html
He will promise world peace but it will be a deception as the world will soon realize.

I read that last link, and I'm really at a loss for words. How can people believe that stuff? Really I just don't know what to say. To think I may live near or know someone casually that believes this to be true is scary.

Choco, have you ever read the Bible?
T
It relates to gun control because the UN will use it's power to disarm the world and possess all the firepower. They already controlled all of America's military firepower under the Clinton administration. Less powerful countries without their own weild our big stick at our expense. They will then disarm individual citizens through treaties the US will eventually sign. The UN/EU will eventually control the world. It's called One World Goverment. There will be a cashless society and a universial "religion" which will be a "non-religion".
Bush believes it. He will fight it for his term. Any fight will be useless.

No Teri I have not read the Bible. Of course, I have heard and read other things about The Rapture. But, I've never read the gory details. I think it's disqusting that kids are taught to believe it.
KatyD - it's bad enough that Teri believes this stuff, but really sick to know that the President of the United States believes it.

Katy, Yes I do. 100%. I believe the Bible to be the true and inspired word of God. I believe exactly what the Bible says and no more. There are many who go WAY beyond what is revealed (such as the date setters , and antichrist finger ponters) in their predictions. I do firmly believe that what is written has been fullfilled and continues to be fullfilled before our very eyes.
I do not believe that anyone knows the identity of the antichrist as many claim. I do not believe that anyone knows the day nor the time. I do believe that we are now 2000 years closer than we were when it was said "Repent! For the Kingdom of Heaven is at hand." I do believe that a world leader could sign a peace treaty with Israel in my lifetime. I believe that the things stated in the Word of God are infallible.
Space ships are likely to be the "great deception" fuzz. It will probably be the rational for the disapearences of the raptured. The antichrist may claim "other world" origin. It will be a lie.

Don't believe in God.
Don't believe in Satan.
Don't believe in Heaven.
Don't believe in Hell.
This, from someone who grew up in the church and was very involved for years with a church as an adult.
After reading that third link, if I did believe, I would be inclined to side with Satan.

I have just finished number 8 "The Mark" in a wonderfully entertaining series of books by a couple of excellent writers Tim LaHaye and Jerry B. Jenkins. Their series of books are referred to as the "Left Behind"TM series. They are advertised as "prophecy-based fiction" or "Christian Thrillers". That's right off the dust jackets! I have found them to be "page-turners" that's for sure. Nowhere have I heard or seen these authors pass their interpretation of Revelations off as "gospel".
I am not sure were jt picked up her notions, but from her post, her words sound right out of these books. Right down to the "spaceship" reference!
Reading these books and pausing to ponder, is one thing. Taking them literally is another.

No, lotsa. The anti-christ is going to be a person. Supposedly that website's interpretation is that the UN will eventually be headed by the person who is really the anti-christ.
I think that Kofi Annan was just re-elected, and I don't know how long his term is, so unless he is the anti-christ, I think there is a ways to go yet.

UN Free Zone Declared:

The Left Behind Series is no joke, it is a ministry. Lahaye admits that his books are "fiction" as no one knows exactly how the events will occur. Tim Lahaye is quite serious in his belief that the Biblical rapture will occur. I have been reading his (and his wife's) nonfiction for years.
Here is Tim Lahaye's web site:

Read the 4th paragraph.
His FAQ page: http://www.timlahaye.com/about_ministry/index.php3?lo=y&p=faq§ion=FAQs
32 million copies sold.

"Lahaye admits that his books are "fiction" as no one knows exactly how the events will occur."
jt-That is the point I was attempting to make. From your post and the website links you have provided, it seems there are people believing these books are presented as fact not just an entertaining series from a couple of gifted guys!
One would think from your comments it's a done deal...this is the way it's gonna be! The work picks things out of Revelations and writes a story around it. Probably dozens of writers could do the same and have an entirely different "story". That's what's neat about prophecy theories.
I have no problem with you believing the UN is going to be involved, or that we will have a one government world or a cashless society or a non-religious religion....but don't you think "presenting" it as fact, (links and all) is a little misleading?
What's wrong with adding "what if..." or a "let's suppose for a moment...." before your statements???? Works for me!

Teri
I think its great that your belief is so strong.
One of my best freinds became born again, which isn't a bad thing. They are the neatest people.
In talking to them, one thing I do remember them telling me.... that they try not to concentrate on how and when the end will come, but live today, as they believe the Bible says to. They told me that in Revelations, there is some scripture, which I do not know chapter and verse, that says that. Not to try and 'decipher' all that is there, that it is a warning, but not one for any man to figure out. That the time will come, and that people should just believe.
So if it comes in our lifetime or the next, we will never figure it out, as we are only human.

Hopefully I'll be out of here in the first round draft! So I won't be able to see this!
I did see a cute bumper sticker a few months back. It said:
"WARNING: In the event of Rapture, this car will be driverless"
It made me chuckle...

Teri and sulyn1950,
I've read Left Behind, and saw the movie.
Good, but an interpetation, like many interpatations, one could say that Stephen King's The Stand was an interp. of end times.
But totally off topic, but sort of on topic, the movie we just rented Pay It Forward, was really good.
(ok that was OT sorry)

OK-hopefully someone will humor me here.
Although, I bought each book as it was released, I did find myself wondering why these authors had the majority of the so-called "left behind" people still refusing to believe they were actually in the times referenced in Revelation. Seemed to me that if 1/4 of the worlds population (including ALL the children) suddenly "vanished", and someone pointed out it was the Rapture, even the most hostile athiest would have to reconsider! I have been through 8 books now and the writers still have millions of "survivors" refusing to believe it is for "real". Remember this is fiction I'm talking about.
So, my question to those who don't have any particular "faith" in Prophesy....what if 1/4 of the worlds people suddenly vanished, would you be more prone to believe maybe it was the Rapture and go find a bible, or would you side with those that might insist it was aliens or global warming or some secret government experiement?????
I am curious as to what it would take to make a non-believer a believer.
Anyone game?????

If a quarter of the world's people disappeared, there's no way I would believe it's the 'Rapture' because I don't believe in God nor do I believe the Bible is the word of God. I'm a very logical person, no one has ever given me any convincing arguments that God exists, and I would have to exhaust every other possibility before I believed that it was the 'Rapture'.
But it's a moot point because it's not going to happen.
I take that back - it's possible the 1/4 of the world's population could 'disappear' but it will be because of some disease or global warming or something like that.
