Despite all of the positive spin put out about Bush's triumphant march to the Urals, Russia, as Putin, is ignoring anything that Bush thinks was accomplished. Played him for the sap that he is.

This is the sort of thing that I was talking about last month with the Chinese episode. Several times I tried to explain to people what the impact will be for us as Americans and America in general by having a dunce as a puppet leader in the way of foreign relations. All I got for that was the "who cares about the Chinese?" and other highly ignorant remarks that clearly had no understanding of how gravely dangerous a move it was to put a twelve-year-old into the presidency. I suppose that Republican voters, unable to see the grevious mistake of voting for Bush over McCain, will continue to be unable to comprehend international diplomacy and what's at stake. Such undersight is going to cost us dearly in the long-run and I only hope that Bush will resign the presidency in time for us to recover. The world is just too dangerous a place to put a retarded political puppet into any office, least of all the most powerful office in the world.

Well, many people vote on the issues. A Republican minded person is just not going to vote for the non Republican candidate. Maybe they'll stay home on principle, but not vote for the other guy. As far as McCain not getting the nomination, McCain had at least three strikes going againt him:

1) he didn't have the financial resources to defeat Bush, and the primary system always puts up richest guy and the guy with the nicest tie as candidate
2) he personally offends many people (and not just in the GOP. Does anyone remember his Chelsea as the offspring of Hillary and Janet Reno joke?)
3) he took on the Religious Right, calling their leadership "evil". These people who make up a substantial chunk of the Republican voting bloc

------------

So 12-year old or not, who were Conservatives going to vote for?

Haha, one time I went with a friend to this Russian club and there was a whole cabaret act. All these Russian showgirls singing Back in the USSR with the accents and everything. It was pretty... surreal.

Sorry to say if he does not join this 12 year olds boy's club and get the secret password and handshake then he may get a dose of the Reagan treatment. That is - Shucks - We can drop a couple hundred billion on crazy weapons systems to scare you spitless and STILL have enough left for a nice lunch when you are scrimping for beet soup.

Yes, the "you'll like us or I'll somehow get Congress to spend hundreds of billions of dollars on stuff we don't need" plan.

Can someone explain to me what Russia wants? They're a vast, desolate country, so it can't be they want more land. They're broke, so they don't have the money to run anything if they did take over some country, so what's their purpose?

They want to be a superpower like they were for 50 years. If you declaw a bear it's not very dangerous anymore but it's still a bear.

Russia's #1 priority is security. With lands so vast and undr-populated, it is difficult to control, hopeless to defend. Still, as many times as Russia has ben invaded, the Russian people have been and still are willing to sacrifice their freedoms to stay safe from foreign invaders.

I'd say that next on the list is an endless flow of 200 proof vodka washed down with beet soup and crusts of brown bread.

For the political leaders it is the same as any other country - power.
There is never enough no matter how much they get.

They are who we are talking about not the average guy who just wants a nice dinner a family and a shot at a few toys to entertain him.

He has no more in common with his leaders (rulers really) than WE have with Bush. Thank Goodness.
