I had to put my fifteen year old cat to sleep. Pook has been part of my household since the day he was born. He helped me through a divorce an the empty nest syndrome when his "boy" left for college. He outlived seven other animals, including other cats. I will miss Pook purring me to sleep each night and keeping my head warm in the winter while I sleep. I feel like I lost a child. All my online names have pook in them and I've decided not to change them, since Pook will live on in my heart.

I'm also very sorry to hear about your loss. Animals play such an important part in our lives. I hope they can tell how much we love them.

I really feel for you. We lost our dog Tundra (Tundigirl) this past Christmas. She had a huge tumour on her heart and nothing could be done. We cried for weeks. I to have her name in alot of my ID's and decided not to change them. It took a while but we just got another puppy, Chelsea and she has really filled a void in our hearts, although sometimes I still catch myself calling her "Tundi" by mistake. Give yourself some time and perhaps in a few months you will feel like going to the pound and bringing a new furry friend into your home, and save a life at the same time....
