I can't say I haven't had fair warning.
She who must be obeyed has just informed me that this Xmas coming it's our turn to host the family gathering on Xmas Day.
It means we'll end up with forty odd adults, plenty of rugrats and a handful of teenage delinquents!
Instructions so far include a new shade area, outdoor lighting, re-build the barbecue, more outdoor furniture, another fridge and more spare beds!
I had that day put aside to play golf, (only kidding), not even I could get away with that one, but then, if they all bring me a present, it might not be so bad!
Is there anyone else out there planning this far ahead?

Well, Bob if "She who must be obeyed" is planning this far ahead it could have something to do with the 40 ODD ADULTS you mentioned, one cannot be too careful in that area. Good on her for getting you in the Holiday spirit!!

If you start now you should be able to make sure that all these households are getting catalogs from the very best names in golf equipment.........

If you get started now and finish ahead of schedule, I bet there's a reward in it for you.
I Christmas shop year round, and I'd love to cook for a large gathering like that.
It's the clean-up I hate.

Just how odd are those 40 odd adults, anyway?

Thank you for my Saturday morning laugh.
Are you wondering if they will give you something you can sell. LOL
It wouldn't be too bad if you only have to put up with them for Christmas Day, but those extra beds sound awfully like you will have some of them for a longer period. Well at least your better half gave you plenty of warning, so snap to it and get those jobs done. Chop chop!!

I don't know-- it is probably not too late to make some airline reservations to someplace really great (Hawaii comes to mind) and plan an escape.
If I didn't have kids I would hide away at Christmas. :0)

Great idea!!! With 40 relatives, it's probably the cheapest way out too.

I think Hillbilly Bob might need more than a possum to cook, better throw a roo or two on the barbie to be feedin' all them thair 40 odd people.
40 chairs, nah ya don't need 40 chairs. The only chairs you will need are for the elderly and the ladylike. The rest can pull up a stump or sit on the grass. We breed em tough here in Aussieland.

It is still very early - why not rent out a hall and have the party there? You can always make some excuse up closer to the date
Becky
P.S. I promise I won't tell Santa if you want to run away!

Ashlandtrader LoL
I can't remember what we disagreed about.
Actually, Ashlander, I had some friends that went to the Bahamas every Christmas. And if I had 40 relatives, I would be right there too!
Now, Becky has another great idea...running away! Maybe a temporary case of amnesia?
