I know, I know. You are wondering what got into Femme today, and why is she starting so many threads? Surely she must be smoking something. LOL

Well, it's entirely too hot to go out today and being so sweet I just know I would melt if I did.

Soooo, I decided to stay in and play with my friends.

On to the subject...

Francis Ford Coppola is re-releasing 1979'sApocalypse Now, which will include 49 (?) minutes of footage edited out of the first version.

I look forward to seeing this film again.

It will be interesting to see the reaction to it, considering the Vietnam War was still fresh in everybody's mind in 1979.

BTW, I have no idea what "redux" means. It's not in my dictionary.

-------

Has anyone seen Planet of the Apes?
If so, what did you think?

I was going to go today, but...

I like Tim Burton films.

Apocalypse Now Redux (whatever that means) sounds good. I'd like to see it.

I saw Tim Burton's Planet of the Apes. I didn't like it.

femme- coincidentally redux means among other things "returning from war"!! Apocalypse was a great, but long movie. I doubt if another 49 minutes will make it a better movie.

redux Brought back, returning from

John Updyke used Redux in many of his book titles and peaked my curiosity years ago.

Re: redux

If you like here is an online dictionary for looking things up easily.

http://www.m-w.com/dictionary.htm

If you don't care for that one here is a whole page of them to find one you like.

Thank you.

Not knowing what redux meant, everytime I heard it, it was enough to drive me nuts.

And we all know that would be a short putt.

My apologies for the derailment here:

Femme you are inside, hanging out at the computer, when you've got that awesome drivin' machine in the garage....I'll bet if you listen closely you'll hear it callin' you..."Femme, come & drive me....Come on, a quick spin....I'll wrap you in cool a/c, good tunes & all the power you can handle....come on, one quick spin".....

Back to the topic:

I saw Apocalypse the 1st go round and found it quite interesting, however I don't think I could make it thru another almost hour of it.....DH is dyin' to see POTA, but he'll have to find another date, monkeys aren't my bag....

Femme - It seems to be hot all over the country.

I saw Apocalypse Now and liked it. But then I've enjoyed all the movies that had to do with Vietnam.

rachelcrisscross - Just curious here. Did you see the other three Planet of the Ape movies? If so, did you like them? I'm just curious to know why you didn't like this one. Please, thank you.

redux = re-do, as in remake. Maybe?

Tomorrow, Rancher, tomorrow.

I reluctantly gave it back yesterday.

BTW, don't be looking for me Saturday night. I'll be out looking for a deserted street to challenge some kids in their hot cars. LOL

Go, granny, go.

Sorry. I thought Femme asked me that question earlier.

Linda K:

I saw the first and liked it. I love Roddy McDowell (I thought he and his female ape scientist partner, Kim Hunter were great) and Heston was alright too. I also liked the bad ape leader, James Whitmore, and I liked the other bad apes too. It had a fantastic cast. It had a good plot. It worked.

I also felt the original movie had a social message and I liked the message.

I saw parts of the other movies over the years. I might have seen all of one or the other of the sequels at some time or another.

Tim Burton's "Planet" is a completely different movie. It's as if he just made up a story and not a very good one at that. Oh yeah, except he wanted to use somebody else's idea.

Flimsy. Mediocre cast. Dumb script. Attempts to throw in lines from original in a witty new way and fails miserably. Special effects only so so. Dumb science. Blah.

I read that there is a sequel planned. That was obvious.

You're welcome!

I thought this thread was about Redux, the drug that came out in 1996 for weight loss, and then was pulled from the market when it allegedly caused pulmonary problems.

Boy, am I out of the loop!
