I am trying a new (for me) salad from Trader Joe's. Curried Chicken Salad. It sounded delicious. It is delicious! Well, except for...

the raisins! They are everywhere throughout the salad--in disguise I might add, because the curry sauce makes them blend in so well.

Yuck! I finally had to take the time to go through the salad, forkful by forkful, to excavate for the little buggers. I ended up pulling out 40 raisins--and still found myself biting down on a few that slipped past me.

Yucch!!! I like raisins straight out of the box, but I can't stand them *in* things.

And, yes, I am a picky eater...

Will your lizards eat them if you rinse 'em off? I remember your cauliflower thread!

You'd never make the big bucks on that new (may I add never to be watched again) show
"Fear" The things they have to eat to stay in
the running, live grasshoppers, sheeps eyes...and goodness knows what else.

I ordered a Greek Salad for lunch from a local salad bar, and it came covered in chopped BEETS!!!! I about barfed! You can pick out the beets, but that yukky beet juice gets all over everything and tastes awful! I was so disappointed.... and hungry.

Ah feel your pain.

Zilvy: thanks for the suggestion. I just washed off as much curry sauce as I could & put them in the lizards' food dishes. My Bearded Dragon devoured his share with relish. The Uromastyxs just stared at me--they'll never eat while you're watching, so I'll check back with 'em later. I doubt the little curry sauce that remains will hurt them--it isn't spicy at all & besides all of them absolutely adore cilantro which *is*.

There must be a surplus of raisins! They are in everything...cookies, candy, bread, ice cream, cake and now, Chicken Salad? LoL

Bunni an ooooold but funny joke regarding raisins.
Mother sends little boy to the baker to get a loaf of raisin bread.
Once he gets it home she discovers Gasp a fly in the raisin bread. Thoroughly disgusted she sends the boy back to the baker to tell him of this awful happening.
Hearing the story the baker leans over the counter (und in my best Cherman accent) says,
"So, bring back the fly und I'll giff you a raisin!" badda bing!

I don't like peas, but I love fried rice.
So I pick them out.
Every one.

Victoria: You can order fried rice without peas and carrots. I do it all the time. Saves time picking them out.

Same with any of this stuff - tell them how you want it prepared and hold them to it. My wife does not eat carrots and it is tossed in everything for the color.

Just got home. Great play. Well, Hepzibah & Duff, the uromastyxs, weren't as thrilled with the raisins as Tucker, my Bearded Dragon was. His were all eaten. They left 3 or 4 in their dish.

Stusi: I know exactly what you mean! Unless you bake them yourself it is nigh impossible to find oatmeal cookies *without* raisins! What a way to ruin a perfectly good cookie...

Depends on the species--there are several. The largest is the Egyptian Uromastyx which is 3 feet long. Mine are Mali Uromastyx--about 8-9 inches long.
