If my memory serves correctly, new printings (or reprints?) of those and Zippy the Pinhead et al were available at "The Environmental Circus," a couple blocks south of the sunset dock in key West Fla as late as the early 90's..

Well, hell, The president of our country is a clown so we are living in the politics of the absurd. The absurdity of the human condition and trying to cope may eventually lead us all to the consumption of drugs and alcolhol and therefore make us all freaks.
Lunatics reign... but so far I am coping without the aid of alcohol or drugs so I'm not a freak yet. But who knows what tomorrow will bring? LoL!!!
How about you?

I did a search. Rip-Off press is still operating! #13 published in '97. Reorganized after a warehouse fire.
It appears it takes 2 -3 years to send Freewheelin' Franklin, Fat Freddy and Phineas Phreak on new adventures. Maybe things are a little too mellow in the companys workforce.

I'm not familiar with these Freak brothers - but did the illustrator also have regular inclusion in Mad Magazine in the early 70's? The style of drawing delivers a strong deja vu

thermionic - Yeah I can imaigine the typical work day.
1. - Come in at 11:00 smoked up. Talk about last night's adventures and what's new - plan lunch
2. - Go out to lunch. Toke in park - play frissbie. Discuss ideas.
3. - 2:00 go back to work - write down some ideas. - make a few preliminary scetches.
Organize company beach volly ball game at 3:00. Head out there - buy a bag on the way.

Rosie, Gilbert Shelton, the main guy behind the Freaks, didn't draw for Mad but Don Martin (who did)was one of his influences. I can see a similarity there.

I remember the issue where they filled their bathtub with cow manure in order to grow magic mushrooms. Now that's freakY with a capital Y.
I used to have a good collection of underground comix. Zap, Freak Brothers and more that I can't remember. Lots of R. Crumb.

naked vollyball,Gravid, and i believe the terminolgy is "score" but i wouldnt really know.
Awesome B and K 747 Loosecannon. I just aquired a Triplett model 3414a in great shape, which makes my 3rd tester. None of them read the same. A man with 3 testers is never sure what the mutual conductance is.

Hi Thermionic
I've got two that I use regularly. The B&K 747 and a Conar 224 that tests all of the old 4 pin and obscure tubes, but it's just an emissions tester. I also keep a Sencore around because it's the only one I can figure out how to test 8950 tubes on.
Never had a Triplett but they are supposed to be good.

No, I went in the early 80s when it was at the Meadows. I always had to work.
Wasn't the first one on MoPac?

Snowy, I was there in the early 70's. I think you're right about the first one, but the second one was in a big ole' cow pasture in a place called "Liberty Hill". It was a BIG get together, Nelson, Allman Brothers, Charlie Daniels, and a slew of other good bands.
Was "Hippie Holler" still around when your where there?

It was still there when I left for good in 91. (I knew it was time to go when they put up the street signs and paved the ruts and widened Bee Cave Road)
