Any help would be greatly appreciated!

I am in the process of relocating (from Long Island, New York to Bellingham, Washington - WOOHOO!!), so I've been trying to rid myself of as many of those pesky mailing lists as I can.

Despite my clicking where told to, and "unsubscribing" (although I don't remember ever SUBSCRIBING in the first place!), I am still receiving emails from some of these lists.

What are my options? I can't block all my email (I still have customers to attend to and business to do), and I've "unsubscribed" to one list THREE separate times with no results.

Ack. How can I "make the email go away....get it off of my sign-on screen..." (play music here ).

Thanks so much!

There was a web site I was browsing last spring that I wish I could find again (I thought I'd bookmarked it, but I hadn't.) It provided an centralized e-mail service whereby you could create a unique e-mail address for each time you gave out your e-mail address on the Internet. Then, if you received spam, you'd know exactly where the spammers got your e-mail address, and simply make that particular e-mail address invalid.

You could always change your email address...

I done this several times. Set up a free email address at one of the many sites available. Only give the new email address to those who you want to hear from. After a month or three, you should be able to ignore the other email address...

Another thing I do, is to have several email addresses for different purposes. I have one for my online auction stuff, another email address I give out to people I meet if I'm chatting online. Another I use to subscribe to online subscriptions and newsletters. Another one that I use when I give out when I need to register software, another one for posting to newsgroups, etc...

Between changing my email address and separating my email into categories, I've probably got about 8 different email addresses. The other advantage of this is that if you start receiving unwanted emails at a particular address you probably have a good idea of how the person got your address. Most of the spam or unwanted email I get appears to come from newsgroup postings and from the time I accidently left my email address public on one of peer to peer chat programs such...

If you are moving to the Pacific Northwest as you say AND you happen to be going to the Great State of Washington, here's your ticket to fame and fortune:

Found it!

This thread prompted me to try a search one more time for the e-mail service I mentioned.
