May be this is old news...
But I just heard that Rosie O’Donnell
has donated one Million dollars to the cause...
That is very cool...does anybody know if any
other big stars have kicked in a few Bob...?

Kind of makes ebay's million look a little paltry. I kind of doubt that either of these two people's net value is anywhere near ebay's market capitalization.

Rosie was only following suit.

It was a great gift, but only in the wake of others before her.

Rosie flaunts. If she is going to give it to Survivor contestants, she may as well give to this. But she does it and makes sure EVERYONE knows it. I cant stand her, but Im glad the money went to people who deserve it.

But for a Mill I could like anybody....

So...Rosie is "flaunting" when she gives millions & let's people know about it, but Madonna, Britney Speares and a whole host of celebrities who donate millions and let people know about it aren't?

A nice intention -- granted. But maybe a bit irresponsible. After all, isn't she a single mom? What about the children?

I liked what Rosie said tonight on Entertainment Tonight.

'There should be a million dollar cover charge to perform on the telethon tonight for the celebrities. Before they ask that the working class dig into their pockets they had better dug into theirs first"

The man that owns the Dallas Mavericks (basketball team), Mark Cuban, also gave 1 mil of his own. Love him or hate him as a sports franchise owner, he's a class act.

Bunni, Spears and Madonna are of the same ilk in my book. So no, it isnt ok when they flaunt it. Nothing any of them could do would make them different in my eyes. Blech.

If Rosie was to sell her head by the pound, she could raise a fortune.

Man that melon is huge...

That's rather rude. Whether or not you like O'Donnell or agree with some of her beliefs, it is a fact that for years she has been one of the most giving people in show business. She gives time & $ to more charities than you can shake a stick at, while other celebrities at the telethon last night give only when the spotlights are on.

pocono, lol, if she were to lay off the ring dings she could probably afford to donate another million. She is like ebay, she does nothing unless it benefits her. I can't stand her.

I don't care for Rosie O'Donnell for several reasons. I grateful that she choose to donate.

I'd image that there are many celebrities that have choosen to donate but not issue a press release to draw attention to their deed.

Bunnicula, it is rude that I dont like rosie? So be it. I dont like her. You dont like Bush, do you? Then that means youre rude too.

This is silly. YOU see rosie as a caring person. I see her as a fake who happens to have money. Different opinions.

oooh hepburn, good one it is not rude to call Bush an idiot everyday, but it is rude to point out that Rosie is a big fat phony? (I am not making fun of fat people, I am pretty chunky myself)

uaru---you always have to make something into something it is not.

If you really want to make something out of nothing---I bet all the celebrities PR people made sure certain of their clients got on the telethon for face time.

It was disturbing to see Fred Durst of Limp Bizkit trying to sing Pink Floyd's Wish You Were Here. Wish David Gilmour had been there instead.

I am proud to say that the our local professional baseball team has all donated 1 day's pay. From what they have said, the whole organization has done it, not just the players. (although if some of those players would donate one day's pay a year to me, I could retire!)

Rosie was fun for a while, but then she got to activistic (is that a word??) I appreciate the fact that she likes to help people, but I got really tired of hearing about her causes.

hepburn: By "rude" I was referring to the cracks about her weight, not the fact that some posters don't like the woman. What does her weight have to do with the topic at hand? As for me, I rarely think about her as I'm never home when her show is on, but am aware of the good she has done. In regards my opinion of Bush, I base my statements on the fact that his grey matter, if any, is substandard and what I have observed of his ethics.
