A longtime friend of mine -- a decorated Viet Nam Veteran who knows firsthand the horrors of war, and who has no more interest in "political correctness" than many of us -- has this "military" advice: "Don't waste our twenty-million-bucks-apiece missiles bombing ersatz targets in Afghanistan or elsewhere. We're going to have to PAY to replace those missiles. Instead, load up our C-130's with all the garbage we can't get rid of... dump our bargefuls of radioactive waste, medical waste, even old tires and mattresses on our 'enemies'. AND ship the hundreds of thousands of demolished tons that were once The World Trade Center to them as well. Won't matter if these payloads hit a 'target' or not -- if this is truly going to be a generations-long war, the fallout will ultimately hit the mark."

I LIKE that idea, plsmith! Oh yes indeed. Instead of filling up our land waste, why not dump it on them? Especially the tower rubble. Yes. Great idea.

Yeah all those bags of medical waste from the hospitals and research centers. Old blood bags that are dated or suspect. Animals from lab work. Nuclear waste from medical and fuel processing. Old syringes and operating instruments. PCB's from old transformers. Old pesticides that are illegal to use anymore.
Old lead based paint and the sludge from solvent washing tanks. crud from smelting metals. All the dead animals with mad cow and hoove and mouth disease. Rabid skunks. heck - old cheese and chimchee.

Buggy, is that YOU? Our old DNF Buggy??
Hjw, what, exactly, do you find disgusting? Is it REALLY more palatable to you that we aim expensive (and eversomuch more deadly) missiles at our elusive target?
Gravid, I knew I could count on you to expand the list

First, this is the most disgusting thread that I have read since I first starting reading this board several years ago.
Suggesting that human beings should dump radioactive trash on other human beings is reprehensible. It is just as reprehensible as bin Ladins's atrocities.
Do you know that this "trash" will fall on 500 orphans?
Frankly, I am shocked and surprised that you, specifically, would start such a thread.

Why me, specifically, Hjw? I can sit with my constant CNN feed day in and day out, and comprehend most of what I'm being told. We're at war. A new kind of war. One that won't end with numerous bombings or economic sanctions or anything short of actual and catastophic debilitation of those regimes that harbor, educate, and encourage these new "warriors". What do YOU propose we do as a nation and as a free people?
In all fairness, my War-Veteran buddy made the remarks with which I started this thread half in jest. He sees no specific "clean" way out, either, and I thought his suggestion was just as good (and far more fiscally responsible) than any I've heard floated by the people we PAY to think these things through...

Well, thank you, Zilvy. While I support my friend's seemingly wild idea, I'm just the messenger, shortly due to be killed, heh...

Actually, PL, Helen thinks we ought to go over there hat in hand and ask them Pretty please? With sugar on it? That's whatcha call diplomacy. Helen thinks that they are just misunderstood and they really just want to sit down to tea with us and tell us where it hurts.

I'm feeling particularly 'reprehensible' tonight, so here's my suggestion. I think we should bomb their football stadium in Kabal so they are deprived of their luxury of execution entertainment. (GASP) what am I saying?!
Yes I know that is a savage response to such a peace loving culture but as I said I'm feeling 'reprehensible' at the moment. I'm sure with time I feel some harsh language will be sufficient punishment.

I say bomb them with food and Nikes and game boys and tvs and dvd players and coke and pepsi and levis and elvis cds and cable boxes and radios.

Uaru, yeah, I've grown a bit tired of my "feel-good" liberalism lately. Do they really use their football stadium for executions? Are we missing a golden opportunity to make money here on OUR football stadiums? Is *this* what PBS has drug our legal system through the courts over in the past? They've repeatedly sued for televised executions...

plsmith, I would be pert proud if you would take a bandana. Join the crowd of those who disgust Helen. She even said this was the most disgusting thread (hmmmm, counting my fingers how many times I have heard that from her....1....2....3....4....5...never mind...too many).
I'm wondering what Helen will think when those crop duster planes the terrorists have been eyeballing decide to dump their nasty biological goodies they have been cooking up on HER town, or HER head.
BOMBS AWAY! Take all our leftovers and drop them in the stadium, like someone up there said (I think it was Uaru...good thinking, bub!)

It is simply cost effective.
We are talking BILLIONS long term to store high level radioactives. You might say they owe it to the US after the towers and the stock melt down.
I wonder if FOX has asked them how much for an exclusive feed at the stadium? I mean all these people are so thrilled at reality TV.
They would have to mail barf bags before you could watch. I remember some show ?"The day After? or some such about after a nuclear war and they went on and on for days ahead about how upsetting it would be...And I had seen worse carnage after a High School football game. All the animals were killed by the fall out and then presto - a week later this guy is riding a horse around his ranch the next week with no explaination where it came from.
It was sort of a preview of reality TV.
Oh well.

I had a young man who worked for me in sales, we were out on the road together one day as part of his training. A crow was at the side of the road eating the remains of a squirrel. He said, "That is so disgusting, that crow eating the remains" (Another bleeding heart liberal, I said to myself) When I asked him if he would like to put up with the flies, vermin and slippery roads caused by all these carcasses in the country he decided perhaps the crow wasn't such a disgusting creature afterall. The moral: THIMK before you preach"
Helen get your priorities straight and when you hear a crop duster don't look up!
