Clear Day Night on Earth..........amazing!!
Check the link below. This is really a sight to behold!

The image is a panoramic view of the world from the new space station.

You can scroll East-West and North-South (left and right and up and down).

Canada's population is almost exclusively along the U.S. border (because this is where the best football and baseball is played).

Moving east to Europe, there is a high population concentration along the Mediterranean Coast. It's easy to spot London, Paris, Stockholm and Vienna.

Check out the development of Israel compared to the rest of the Arab countries. Note the Nile River and the rest of the "Dark Continent".

After the Nile the lights don't come on again till Joberg. Look at the Australian Outback and the Trans-Siberian Rail.
Route.

Moving east, the most striking is the difference between
North and South Korea.

What a piece of photography. It is an absolutely awesome picture of the Earth taken from the Boeing built Space Station.

I believe this is the picture you are looking for:

http://www.bolt.cx/images/earthlights_dmsp_big.jpg

It's a fairly well-known shot that has been making the rounds over the last year. It's actually a composite shot made up of hundreds of individual pictures. Very lovely!

Beautiful.
For anyone who's interested, there's a similar mosaic (this one from a met sat) that was done several years ago, and is available as a poster:

gaffan: Errrr... I do believe that's the same picture. Could be wrong, of course, but I don't think so....

Didn't look like it from here, but I didn't do a pixel scan or anything. In any case, the poster has been out for at least eight years, possibly ten.

ed to add: note aurora borealis above Greenland on the poster, none on the other.
(Oops. Did I just utter the names of two banned personages?)
