I don't drink, but I'm seriously thinking about having one or two. What's the best kind of booze for a beginner and what do you mix it with?....or should I just stick with the pills and pot?

Let's try a different approach...topical application! Mix some finely ground pot with vaseline and spread evenly all over your body...then slip into bed for a restful nights sleep! Play a little Enya, softly in the background and fill the room with rum scented candles!
Good luck, in the morning take two aspirin and have a brownie!!

If you are going to try something you might as well go for something that has some actual healthy qualities. A moderate intake of red wine is shown to have some benefit for both the heart and anti-cancer effect. It is a somewhat learned taste like coffee but you can make it into a cooler or even use ice.
Some of the wines today have nothing to reccommend them. For example it has become the custom to make most Chardonnay so oaky in taste that you can't tell much about the grapes - only what it was stored in. However most mederratly priced red italian table wines for sale will not show any strange "popular" trends. I don't know many people who don't like a glass of Champagne. We keep a couple bottles chilled in the frig. and if you offer people coffee, tea or chilled Champagne when they drop by they always seem to feel like you have made a fuss over them if you pop a bottle and get the nice flutes out.
The previous posters are correct about distilled spirits. If you don't have the habit it might be better to pass or use Cannibus in the ingested form. Supposing you are not worried about the legal problems.
Some people do have a predisposition to alcohalism and if you are aware of that running in the family better not to start.
Very few people like straight distilled spirits so their body is probably trying to tell them something. They need to hide it in whhatever they DO like. Just as Riunite I believe was invented to market wine to people who really do not like the taste of wine.
I do like the taste of Maker's Mark Bourbon neat (without mix or ice) That is one of the very few distilled spirits that I can afford that are palatable. I can no more afford things that are a couple hundred dollars a bottle than I can $400 dress shirts. I know they are out there but reality intrudes.
We used to go visit relatives in the very rural parts of West Virginia and they would have white lightning that proofed out about 150 and we knew was made with no danger of lead or methyl alcohol. In fact it was made with glass condensors. An interesting thing about that is that you can swish a bit around in your mouth and draw a long deep breath over it and vapor goes into the bloodstream right through the lungs and you feel a small buzz start in about 20 seconds when it hits the brain. That has to kill the brain cells like soldiers on a nuclear battlefield so I don't reccommend making it a life habit, or you couldend up spelling like me. (smiley of choice)
If you try beer I have to say most American beer you might as well have a nice glass of ice water. If you want to try something that has some flavor without being bitter like some like it in the UK try a bottle of Negro Modela Mexican beer - tan bueno
