My sister in law works at the administrative offices of MetLife in New Jersey. The day of the attack her horrified co-workers were watching coverage of the attack when their supervisor stormed out of his office and reminded them that they had a staff meeting. When they told him that they were in shock and didn't think they could concentrate on a meeting, he yelled, "The World Trade Center doesn't concern us, we have work to do!"
Needless to say MetLife is off my list of companies that I will use....

"Needless to say MetLife is off my list of companies that I will use.... "
That will teach your friend and her co-workers a lesson.

It could well be that focussing on work was *his* way of dealing with it.

What do you expect from an insurance company representative...pity and compassion?
Actually, this may just be his coping mechanism. Focusing on work to avoid facing the reality of a catastrophe. But I do agree with you. It was inappropriate and callous.

Would not have surprised me if you said he has brought it up every day since what a unloyal lazy bunch of losers they were for that day.
Usually those sort remember every imaigined slight and error and recount them daily.
He probably failed the bar.

Maybe the guy was thinking of all the claims coming...and saw everyone, including himself, out of a job.

Maybe his shorts had shrunk or he tied his shoelaces too tight, whatever, I am sure that he manages with fear rather than kindness. Sounds like a real loser!

And to think Snoopy is part of this..."Get MET"...Snoopy, wake up and smell the coffee
May be that was the man's way of coping; but the deliveryof the statement was so rude and mean that I tend to believe the person was BORN that way...crisis or no crisis....

I guess empathy is dead. At least if the POV is unpopular.
I wonder. Does anyone here know an imperfect person?
If you don't...you don't know me.

"The World Trade Center doesn't concern us, we have work to do!"
"The doesn't concern us," portion of the quote is what makes me less than empathetic...but I worked for the same type of person so perhaps I am biased. You could be wounded, lying in a pool of blood and he wanted to know how many sales you made that day....and who was gonna pay to clean up the mess? Real gem!

I thought MetLife had space in the World Trade Center.
I may be wrong, but I thought I saw somewhere they had offices there.
My thoughts on this issue have gone 'Un-Surveyed' and may not be of importance to the P.T.B.
